This is a real opportunity to stay in a nice old country house rather than a bland modern hotel around Shannon. It is very convenient for the airport and they will make a big fuss of you in such a cozy atmosphere. The food is also excellent.
Remember it is a country house so it is a little way out of town but there is no airport noise .

Room Tip: I prefer those in the main house

My wife and I spent the last night of our 30th anniversary trip at the Carrygerry Country House. It was the perfect ending to our special vacation. We were warmly welcomed and had a superb dinner. Beforehand we had pre-dinner drinks in the waiting room where we conveniently placed our food orders. This was a new experience for us (we don't normally do this in the U.S.) but really neat. While waiting to be seated we had a lovely conversation with some locals. The grounds are beautiful and we were free to walk around and explore. Just down the road is the local Honk Bar pub where we enjoyed our last pints before going home. Even though we were just minutes from the Shannon Airport, there was no airplane noise that we noticed in the evening. Shannon is very easy to get out of and we recommend this to anyone for that reason. Back to our room, it was gorgeous. A four-poster bed, beautiful view outside, very romantic. I hope you get a chance to stay here.

Hard to believe this place is only a few minute drive from the airport because it is so lovely and quiet. The grounds are so beautiful w horses and fields, right on the river Shannon. Their food is fabulous and people come there specifically for their chef/owner. Fire crackling and fine wines flowing. The dining room is in a gazibo with beautiful viws of the pastures. Very nice rooms and huge bath tubs. Fine Irish linen bedding

A must to see while your there is the Ratmore castle only a few miles away. Authentically furnished and a recreated peasant village w great gift shop.

Room Tip: All rooms are unique. One large suite is in the lower level of the carriage house for a family. Our room was on the 3rd level so specify if you have issues with stairs.

We stayed here the end of October for three days. The location is a little difficult to find but once you locate it you will have no problems finding it again. The staff is beyond helpful and friendly. I cannot express enough how wonderful they are, they truly made the trip pleasant. The grounds are very nice and the view is breathtaking. The hotel itself is a little tired but that is more so because everything there are antiques. This only adds to the charm. Staying in Ireland this was exactly what I wanted. I would recommend this place mainly to couples. A must see is Cliffs of Moher and the Ring of Kerry. Well worth the drive!
