In order to get there try to go in the direction to the Aerospace Center. Then go to the end of that road and turn right until you get there. The place is charming and the personal service is outstanding.

I won't rehash all of the highlights from previous reviews, but will add just a couple of supplementary comments. One reviewer noted the "shabby" appearance of the exterior. Since that review was posted, the exterior has been painted a subtle yellow which really brightens up the inn and blends nicely with the surrounding bucolic countryside. Another reviewer commented that they weren't able to partake of a meal at the Carrygerry which is a shame as I found the cuisine (both dinner and breakfast) to be excellent.

There were a few minor inconveniences which relate primarily to the fact that 1) this is old country house (ca. 1793) and not a modern urban hotel facility, and 2) this reviewer is more accustomed to US vs UK accommodations. Bathrooms and heating are often quirky (from a US-centric standpoint) in such places and the Carrygerry was no exception, but there was nothing that I wasn't able to figure out or adjust to. The TV in my room didn't seem to work, but who comes to Ireland to watch TV? Wi-Fi only works on the ground level and I found the connection to be intermitnant.

The Carrygerry is about 10-15 minutes from the airport which makes it very convenient for flying into and out of Shannon. It is, however, about 17 miles from Limerick and a rather costly cab ride. Be aware that if you are returning to the inn from Limerick the cabbies might have a difficult time finding the place (mine had to call). A good landmark is the Aerospace building adjacent to the airport which is quite visible from the highway. The single-lane road to Carrygerry is right across from that unmistakeable edifice.

Finally, I must add that Gillian, the proprietress, was very gracious and accommodating during my brief stay at the Carrygerry. It's quite obvious that she and her husband have poured their hearts and souls into this place, and it shows. Add this one to your list of excellent lodging in Ireland.

Great, very old, very nice lodging. The house is a bit of a challenge to find but well worth the hunt. The entire house is beautifully furnished including our very comfortable room. We sat in the parlor in the evening and our hostess brought out a great pot of tea and cookies. Breakfast was perfect and very close to the airport when we had to leave this wonderful island.

We chose this place as our last accommodation so that we would be close to the airport for our early flight the next morning...we only wish we had more time to spend at the house because it was that nice! The room was lovely and the bathroom spacious, clean, and beautiful with a full size tub and shower. We read that the restaurant is supposed to be very good--but we ate at the Bunratty Castle banquet (which was a lot of fun). There isn't anything to do in the immediate surrounding area, and, without a car, we had to rely on a taxi, which was a bit costly. The drive to the airport was about 15 minutes so it was certainly convenient for us the next morning. Great place to stay.

We stayed at this B&B on the evening before a morning departure from Shannon. The B&B is very close to the airport - it is adjacent to the outer boundary of the airport, but well off the main road and away from the runways. It took me about 5 minutes to drive to the terminal in the morning. The road to the B&B becomes single lane and looks like rural Ireland, so some attention is needed if arriving at night.

The B&B itself has a lovely, elegant feel to it. It has a wood-paneled, country estate character without being stuffy or pretentious. Some of the details are very nice, such as the hardwood bar and the four-poster beds in the "superior" rooms (where we stayed). Most details, such as Irish brass fittings and Gilchrist toiletries, are welcome, while the occasional missed detail like vinyl tiles on the bathroom floor are reminders that they aren't trying to reproduce Ashford Castle in Shannon.

Overall, I would say that this is a good value for a 3-4 star stay with unmatched convenience to Shannon airport. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Orchard room has a lovely four-poster bed.

We recently stayed here for one night before an early morning flight out of SNN. The map and directions on the web site are accurate but not drawn to scale – keep going past the other houses and you’ll find it. Service was friendly and efficient – even the dog seemed happy to see us; our room was in the old carriage house and was spacious, well decorated, comfortable, and equipped with a large bathroom (plenty of hot water and pressure – our best shower in Ireland!). Because of the thickness of the wall we could not access the wi-fi signal in our room; we carried our phones and laptop into the lounge and had not problem connecting
The bar and restaurant were wonderful; service was good and the food was exceptional. The wine list had a variety of fairly priced options and we enjoyed every bit of our 3-course fixed price menu. We would stay here again!

We chose this hotel due to TA reviews and also that we had very little choice in Shannon for our last night in Ireland. I must say driving up to the property we were very disappointed, the exterior is shabby and in dire need of paint and attention. We almost drove away, I later learned the owners are slowly having things repainted and had to remove ivy on the walls, therefore the shabby appearance. This is a very old farm house, built around 1790...we like these places full of character and ambiance and we give well deserved credit to the owners for the attention, effort and money they are putting into their hotel. However, for the price we paid for our room, I do not feel we received the commiserate value. It is an old house, that understood, and again one sees that it is being painted inside also and care is being given to refurbish a difficult property to maintain. But they are not quite there, yet are charging to be there, in our humble opinion. We were first shown a room in the annex across a rather shabby courtyard, this room was quite dark, not inviting at all, so chose a more expensive option upstairs. This room was brighter and had been decorated, but in keeping with an old house which is ok, but not great comfort...bath, bed, sitting area etc. Public areas are dark, and dark colors were used in repainting and fabric. We did hear their restuarant is good but did not dine there. All in all, much credit is due the owners as I have said, and eventually with the paint and new carpet on the stairs (this was very worn and sort of a turn off) and other details, it will be a very nice option...
location is nice , away from the airport area, sort of out in the country, and we visited a pub (Honk Pub)very nearby..one of the best pubs we visited on our trip...clean, cozy, fireplace..friendly folks! Give it a try!

Room Tip: don't choose a room in the annex...one in the main house
