During our B&B tour of Ireland this May, we had the pleasure of staying at Dromin Farmhouse. I had worked with dairy farmers in the US and wanted to stay on some working Irish farms. This was our favorite bed and breakfast in Ireland and I know if I ever make another trip across the pond, I will stay there again. On a quiet country road, with a spectacular view of the mountains, we felt so at home with Mary that we didn't want to leave. Mary was so warm and we enjoyed talking to her so much that we had to force ourselves to depart each morning to enjoy the itinerary we had planned for the day. The eggs were the best and freshest we had in Ireland, the local cheeses she served were amazing and we ate more than we should have of her wonderful breakfasts. I really appreciated Mr. Foley answering all my questions about the Irish dairy industry while he milked his cows, and so openly sharing the details of his operation. The room was spacious and clean, with a separate entrance to the B&B from the main house. The B&B is in a great location for visiting the Dingle Peninsula and Kerry, and Mary had a great listing of local restaurants in the sitting room and even some information about hikes and other activities in the area. It is a short drive to town, restaurants and pubs, but my husband and I prefer an amazing view and quiet country setting to a noisy B&B in town any day. On the day we were leaving, I actually felt a bit sad, and that night at our next B&B I turned to my husband and said, "I miss Mary." And he did, too.
