“Out of the way, but SO worth the trip...”
Reviewed 13 September 2013

So we were late arriving. We had planned on arriving between 7 and 8, but we didn't sit down to eat dinner until 8pm. Unfortunately, we were eating in Sneem, which was still an hour away. Although we tried to call, the pubs phone was broken, so we couldn't get through. (We could hear Mary, but she couldn't hear us.) Long story short, Mary waited up for us (we arrived between 9:30 and 10), and was still very welcoming, even with the late hour!

She then offered us a slightly early breakfast, in order for us to make the trek to Portmagee to grab a boat trip to the Skelligs. Another huge plus!

The rooms were comfortable. We had a triple and double room, with the triple having and double and single bed, and the double having one double bed; perfect for our party. They view from the farmhouse was amazing! Eating breakfast and looking out onto the Irish scenery as the sun rose was a treat. And breakfast was wonderful, by the way.

The only downside, as mentioned, is that this B&B is quite out of the way. The address is Killorglin, but it's about 2 miles outside of Killorglin. There are signs, but sometimes hard to follow. (It didn't help that we were coming in so late, so we were looking for signs by headlights.) It's probably easier to find in the daylight.

That being said, the distance gives it some sort of attraction as well, as it's quiet, peaceful, and have I mentioned the great view?!?

I'd stay here again, and I'd recommend it to anyone in the Dingle/Kerry area!

We have stayed at B and B's all over the world and this one makes our top 10 list easily. Mary could show a lot of operators how to do it right. Warm and welcoming, views to die for, helpful advice, accommodating, great sized room etc, etc. I endorse everything said in the other reviews. We will recommend Dromin Farm and will stay here again when we win the Lotto and return!

Room Tip: Remember that you are in peoples homes and treat that home and your hosts respectfully.

During our B&B tour of Ireland this May, we had the pleasure of staying at Dromin Farmhouse. I had worked with dairy farmers in the US and wanted to stay on some working Irish farms. This was our favorite bed and breakfast in Ireland and I know if I ever make another trip across the pond, I will stay there again. On a quiet country road, with a spectacular view of the mountains, we felt so at home with Mary that we didn't want to leave. Mary was so warm and we enjoyed talking to her so much that we had to force ourselves to depart each morning to enjoy the itinerary we had planned for the day. The eggs were the best and freshest we had in Ireland, the local cheeses she served were amazing and we ate more than we should have of her wonderful breakfasts. I really appreciated Mr. Foley answering all my questions about the Irish dairy industry while he milked his cows, and so openly sharing the details of his operation. The room was spacious and clean, with a separate entrance to the B&B from the main house. The B&B is in a great location for visiting the Dingle Peninsula and Kerry, and Mary had a great listing of local restaurants in the sitting room and even some information about hikes and other activities in the area. It is a short drive to town, restaurants and pubs, but my husband and I prefer an amazing view and quiet country setting to a noisy B&B in town any day. On the day we were leaving, I actually felt a bit sad, and that night at our next B&B I turned to my husband and said, "I miss Mary." And he did, too.

Amazing view from patio, dining and sitting rooms of the McGillycuddy Reeks, more.
Gracious knowledgeable hard-working hostess; very nice breakfasts too.
Mary went out of her way to help us make some very special connections.
Drive carefully on the 1 km road getting there -- blind corners, farms. (80 kph -- no way!)
Some good walking roads too, (just watch for traffic).
A working farm, with cows, sheep, and chickens to be heard and seen.
Has WiFi; sometimes sitting room reception faded out, (I went to dining room).
Killorglin is a pleasant town with post office, grocers, laundry, tour office, library, parking, main bus.

Room Tip: All the rooms are meticulously prepared and well stocked, ours had tea fixings, electric kettle. Ou...

We first visited Dromin Farmhouse in the year 2000 and loved it 'so' much we returned in 2001 for our Honeymoon! To return every year but one, to celebrate our Wedding Anniversaries in this very special farmhouse B&B! We delight in our visits each year and this year was our 12th Wedding Anniversary spent in the loving care of Mary Foley! Hers is the true Farmhouse B&B from every point of view! Perfectly situated for visiting places of interest. Stunning views from the front of the property of the valley and the mountains and peaceful fields to the rear. Cosy 'so' comfortable bedrooms with all facilities, and a large equally comfortable Sitting Room with tea and coffee available! Dromin Farmhouse is a working farm so expect to hear the Cock crowing and other farm sounds but none, I assure you, are in any way intrusive and add to the ambiance of this truly lovely B&B! Mary's breakfasts are' legend' as are her warm scones. There is nothing more delightful than a beautifully presented freshly made breakfast to delight the eye and fill the hungry tummy! She caters for different breakfast tastes and needs - not everyone will want the Irish Fry! Although Mary's are very hard to resist! What I particularly love so much about Dromin Farmhouse is that though it has moved with the times, the original beauty and comfort of this farmhouse B&B has remained throughout and whatever situation may present itself, difficult or delightful, Mary handles everything with great wisdom and knowledge born from sound experience and many years of running a superb Farmhouse B&B ensuring care and consideration for every visitor that passes over her threshold! It would be very hard to fault Dromin Farmhouse - if not Impossible!

Room Tip: There is one bedroom to the front of the property that overlooks the valley and mountains. A family...

I first stayed with Mary in 2005 and just had to return again with my wife in 2012. The view across to the mountain range is magnificent and this is an excellent jump-off point for a drive around the Dingle Peninsula. Hidden away from the main roads, but well sign posted, this is real Kerry countryside and farm life. Mary has the best bedlinen of all the B&Bs we stayed at in Ireland. Do you self a favour - stay more than 2 nights.

Room Tip: Rooms along verandah have excellent views.

Although the B&B is a bit hidden a lot of signs will show you the way to Mary. She is a very nice and warming Lady. You feel welcome on the very first Minute you put your foot over the treshold and enjoy every Moment you spent in that B&B. If you have any question or don't know where to go - Mary is doing her best to give you the best advise. It was our 3rd time in that B&B and it felt like visiting friends. You couldn't find any better B&B in Kerry!

Room Tip: Every room is nice, quiet and clean! You can take every room you'd like!
