I visited Glenbeigh as part of a group of 10 on a walking weekend. We were only in the town for two nights, but after receiving such a warm welcome when we arrived for dinner on Friday, we hardly went anywhere else. The food was fantastic, as was the beer, but it was the service that was truly exceptional. It is a family-run pub and hotel and they couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming - after a couple of hours we felt like family too!

We stayed 4 nights and loved the hotel and pub. The pub food was tasty and fresh, the ambiance was warm, and the staff were all friendly and eager to help in any way they could. The room was pleasant - old fashioned/ rustic as befitted the age of the hotel ("the oldest in Ireland"). The bed wasn't the most comfortable, I loved the big, old bath tub. TV reception was virtually non-existent. But here's the thing: we were there to enjoy the beautiful environs, to get a taste of Ireland from an historical point of view, and certainly were NOT there to watch TV! This is not your Hyatt Regency experience...much better: rustic, friendly, a taste of history with good food and affordably priced.

We stayed in this small hotel for the weekend- bit of a warren, I think it has 16 rooms in total. We were lucky that we were given Room 12, the family room which is a great size and has been very recently redecorated. Rooms 1 & 10 are nice too, Room 4 is pretty small. All are furnished with lovely 4 poster/sleigh beds and freestanding wardrobes and dressing tables- nice touches too, a jewellery tray on the dresser and a selection of books on the bedside table. Our room was directly above the bar- but the noise was only a murmur, nothing to keep you awake. Breakfast is great- and is worth coming down to no matter how much your head hurts after a night in the bar next door! Food in the pub itself is very good: bacon & cabbage, irish stew all tasted like home cooked meals, lovely Guinness too!

  • Liked — The location is fantastic, amazing scenery, you must go to the beach and jump in the sea!
  • Disliked — We didn't get fresh towels over three days
