You can't go wrong staying at the Bridge House, easily Skibbereen's most central guesthouse, and indeed something of a landmark in town. Mona, the proprietor, is brilliant: a deeply generous, interesting, and attentive host, she is a force of energy and goodwill. From the astonishing (and outlandishly LARGE) healthy breakfasts, to Mona's choice in music (the morning I walked in, toward the end of July, she was spinning Christmas carols), to the rich array of objets d'art, Mona has crafted a carefully quirky ambience, which is both genuinely comfortable and an experience not to be missed. The Bridge House is the best place I have stayed in, not only in West Cork, but the whole of Ireland. Be sure to book ahead; the Bridge House is (understandably) in demand.

We arrived to the Bridge House quiet late in the evening, the first thing we noticed was the wall of flowers and cows head protruding from the wall onto the street. This was just a taste of what was to come.
Tired after a day of travelling we where introduced to Lady Mona who brought us to our two room, through a hallway packed with odd bits, ornaments, and mannequins very finely dressed.
We marvelled at to uniqueness between to two rooms for a while before crawling into the beds to have one of the most comfortable nights sleep.
In the morning, with full light, we had two surprises awaiting us ... the rest of the décor which we couldn't see the previous evening, and a breakfast that alone would be worthy of the finest awards! A full Irish breakfast consisting entirely of locally sourced organic food, which we enjoyed to pan-pipe Christmas carols ... in July!
I loved it!! I enjoyed every single bizarre second! And I cannot wait for an excuse to go back!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back, our friends had a room by the main road, neither of us have a noise compl...

We stayed over on Saturday night and had a wonderful time. Mona was gracious, welcoming and wise! The guest house is a living work of art as is Mona! Breakfast was delicious with freshly squeezed orange juice, and among the many delights was Gobbeen cheese with quince jelly, tasty organic local rashers and sausages, homemade preserves etc. We will be back. An absolute jewel. Gavin and Stuart xxx

Very quirky place that has loads of charm, bedrooms immaculate and breakfast amazing. I would definitely return great value too. In good location and very easy going. The young chap working there was my only criticism as he just opened the bedroom door twice and just came in... Mona was great

Our 2 night stay at the Bridge House was excellent thanks to Mona's fantastic hospitality in her theatrical home. On arrival to the Bridge House, you never stop staring at every nook and cranny as Mona has tastefully decorated every inch of space in a creative and quirky manner which keeps you smiling. The bedrooms are all decorated artistically and beautifully with so many lovely touches.

The breakfast leaves you nicely full & is a healthy, hearty one and its style varies each morning.
Mona is at hand and always up for chat and advice on local attractions all throughout your stay. She is a delight, just like her home! Thank you,Mona, for such a wonderful stay. It's like no other!
