Spent a pleasant few hours here with the children kayaking during the day. Picturesque but not as pleasant and busier than lots of Lochs in the highlands of Scotland.

This beautiful lake and surrounding area is kept perfectly. I’d recommend walking the 2k up to the summit as the views are breathtaking. And of course a swim!

A little disappointed to be honest. As it is advertised as a marine reserve I thought it would be full of marine life. Instead it consisted of the humans swimming in what could have been a lake anywhere. Not worth the drive out in my opinion.

Spent a week here with my husband while he did surveying work for his masters project. He snorkelled while I kayaked next to him, spending very peaceful afternoons looking out at the scenery. We have seen a lot of sea creatures ( it usually happens with a marine biologist!) including a beautiful live cowry! Lovely scallops, oysters, seaweed, hundreds of fish, crabs, spider crabs, sea sponges, anemones etc etc. Would also say how surprisingly warm the water is: every day you see dozens and dozens of locals and visitors alike popping in for a warm in the naturally warm sea water. It was at least 18.5 •C most days! Very safe place for water sports and sea swimming.

We could only see part of the Lough, as it's quite hard to reach, which one of the reasons it's so lovely. We did the hill trek, which is a bit of an effort, so not for the infirm, but a fab. view from the top.
