Stayed in this hotel recently for a couple of nights and the overall impression was positive. The staff are a delight to deal with and I must single out Tom and his staff in the restaurant for particular praise. They were well presented well trained and very efficient. They were all smiles and worked very well as a team. Reception staff and managers all were approachable and easy to deal with as were the staff of the leisure complex. The staff are the absolute stars of this hotel.
The rooms are dated and need to be upgraded, enough said.
The breakfast lacked imagination and more choices need to be made available.
The dinner menu was fine and the food was prepared well and presented well, I would recommend the roast beef, just to say on the second night I was just finishing a very nice meal when Tom arrived with more roast beef for me as in his opinion he believed my plate looked a little light on meat. I hadn't noticed that, well done Tom, that is a touch u don't see very often any more.
The leisure complex was clean and easy to find. The staff here were very helpful and had a smile on their faces at all times, the really seemed to enjoy working there. There was a young lady conducting a kids club in the pool and the kids looked like there were having a ball.
This is a hotel of contrasts, the lobby is all marble and clean but accessed through a sliding door that looks like a refugee for Shannon airport in the early 70's.
There is a very big modern conference center at the side of the hotel but no money spent on the outside appearance of the dining room that looks again like a throwback to the 70's.
It's like someone spent a lot of money upgrading the wrong parts of the hotel.
We found the wi-fi hard to access and mobile phone coverage to be very poor.
Saying all that I will return to this hotel if only for the friendliness of the staff

We stayed here for 1 night only just to pass by the night then heading to Mizen Head. The room is normal and you can sleep nicely. The restaurant is not bad specially during breakfast (Buffet). Recommend for families w/ kids as it's safe enough and they can sleep comfortably.

Room Tip: Away from the bar and restaurant

We stayed in the cottages on the grounds, the 1st one a 3* was terrible dark, small & very cramped but we rang reception & they gave us a 4*one at no extra charge which was a lot better but still dated?we stayed 5nts & was only music on 2nts which they said it was every night. The bar closed very early as soon as music finished at 11 they closed the bar so annoying. We had bar food twice and really shouldn't have wasted our money a child could have served up better. The staff were nice but didn't go the extra to make us feel valued. The grounds are stunning, pool was fine but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend this hotel

We came to this hotel the night after we left a moldy bed and breakfast. Well the room and bathroom were cleaner but this lace is no better than a motel 8. Rooms are in need of repair and the one window that opened didn't let air through very well. The breakfast was horrible. We were desperate for a place after a long day in the car but I wouldn't recommend staying here!

We got married here last week and working in the hotel industry i would be very critical but from the moment we first decided to have our wedding here I must say i have had nothing but praise for the staff in the hotel.
Pat the General Manager was absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much and he made sure everything was looked after from start to finish.
The staff were excellent and a credit to the hotel. They were friendly, attentive and looked after all our guests. There was a table of kids and the staff took care of them so we'll we almost forgot they were in the room with us.
The room looked beautiful along with the bride and the Food was DELICIOUS. We had a BBQ the following day where there was an abundance of food and even though a few of the guests arrived late they were looked after as soon as they arrived.

Thank you so much to Pat, Darragh and all the staff you made our special day even more special. I would recommend the Westlodge to any couple thinking of getting married it is a wonderful venue and a fantastic place to stay.

On the 12th of July 2014 me and my husband had our wedding here and there was so many amazing and wonderful things I can say the manger pat couldn't have been better anything that he could do for us he did with a smile and was so happy to do so. The staff where amazing we have small children and there where a few more small ones there and the staff did all they could dropping extra food down for the children carrots etc... The drinks reception was beautiful and all staff greeted us with a smile and happy to be there the food was totally out of this world hot, tasty, and everyone got offered seconds of the meat and everyone so talking about the fish... The night went off with out a problem room turned around tables moved all so fast and the evening food was so good that when I went to get some it was all gone everyone loved the food... I loved seen the staff dancing at the coffee station so lovely to see staff smiling and enjoying the music... The bridal suite was just perfect just want you want quite and the bed was so comfy.... We also had a BBQ the next day and 50 of out guest stayed the second night and once again the food was so yummy no one was left hungry and no problem if you wanted more.. I can't talk highly enough about the westlodge and their staff I know it may be a bit of a drive from cork city but the service we got here you would not get anywhere else and well worth the drive as it is so beautiful... I would never forget the best day of my and our life and thanks to the westlodge you made our wishes come true and for that we thank you....
