“Dream cottages by the sea”

Following a wedding in Dublin, the groom and bride's families selected Laharandota for a well earned break. With 9 guests in total, the two cottages were ample for sleep, peace and privacy.

The location is remote, as are most things in this part of the world, but not isolated. The countryside is spectacular and unspoilt, virtually every building in the region has been renovated, from makeovers to major refurbs and it's rare to see a poorly kept property or anything tatty.

Laharandota sits at the top of the class for renovation, done about 4 years ago. It has been given a fresh exterior this year and the two dwellings plus various outbuildings are immaculate - the pinnacle of good taste, fine furnishings and luxury fittings. It is like walking in to a country home magazine article where the owner threw the budget out with the bathwater and said, "What the heck, I like it, just buy it!".

There is so much stuff in these two cottages it is very hard to imagine you might want for something that isn't already there, and it will be the best on the market. No clutter, just beautiful beds, linens, tables, chairs, doors, hinges (I'm not kidding), porcelain, lamps. Everything.

The pool was such a draw. Sparkling clean water using UV sterilization and a solar heating system. Swimming at midnight looking up at the Milky Way and shooting stars, will stay with me forever.

Great local pubs and easy drives in to the local towns and sight-seeing locations plus walks and cycle routes on your doorstep. We had warm and sunny conditions every day and really enjoyed coming back for a big family meal done on the Rayburn or BBQ. Great memories and a desire to come back and stay longer.

“A dream house.”

Wonderfully located with a picture-postcard vista of Sheep's Head Bay. Spotlessly clean house and all utensils, crockery, bedding and towels provided. Top class brands such as The White Company and Fired Earth feature throughout all the rooms. Beautiful nautically-themed ornamentation, comfortable furnishings and thoughtful touches. Hidden extras such as bikes, barbecue and briquettes for the visitors' use ensured a super stay and we would love to return.

“I wanted to return ... before I got there!”
Reviewed 12 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Everything which has been said about this property IS really TRUE!
Its just beautiful and cosy and very peaceful. Although we probably hit the coldest week of the year, we loved every minute of our stay in Laharandota. Not just that the cottage is perfect, but the Sheeps Head is breathtakingly beautiful - we are definitely returning!

“Wonderful hideaway in West Cork”
Reviewed 15 November 2012 for a stay in November 2012

We spent a week in the cottage in Laharandota, and although it was already late in the year, we enjoyed every minute of it. The cottage is beautifully situated and is spacious, cosy and tastefully furnished. It goes well beyond what self-catering accommodation usually signifies, offering many thoughtful and welcome extras (e.g. peat, logs and firelighters at the ready; bathrobes; Internet access, DVD player and selection of films). The conservatory with sea view is a wonderful place to sit and read, or to watch the weather over Dunmanus Bay. The garden looked lovely, even if it was a bit late in the year to sit out and definitely too cold to dip into the pool. It was not too late, however, to enjoy the great walks on the Sheep's Head Peninsula that start just a few kilometers up and down the road. The accommodation together with the scenery made for a relaxing, unforgettable holiday.

“Just let the magic unfold”
Reviewed 6 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Extremely efficient and helpful owner and caretaker. Superb cottage, lots of light, great in all weathers. It's almost as if the cottage belonged to a dear friend who had left everything well equipped, bright and cosy with just you in mind. It was uncanny - I almost felt that the guidebooks, artbooks and novels that were around had been handpicked for me. The surroundings - sea, hills, heathers - are stunning. Just let the magic unfold.

“Undoubtedly the best holiday cottage I've stayed in. Beautiful.”
Reviewed 2 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Laharandota is a gem of a place to stay. With a fantastic location - that would be beautiful in rain or sun ( we were lucky to get the sun), this is a remarkably special cottage. Julie, the owner, has filled the cottage with beautiful, tasteful items and everything you could possibly need is on hand. I have nothing negative to say about our stay here, as we couldn't stop talking about how lucky we were to have found it. From the stunning sun room, to the antique stove in the main bedroom, to the homely Rayburn stove and of course, the pool - that made us feel like we were in the Greek islands - Laharandota is as good as Ireland gets. We'll definitely go back.
