My husband and I stayed in Four Directions for a week in July. From the moment we arrived we felt so relaxed in the little cottage. It provided us with everything we needed to enjoy our stay,a lovely welcome pack, such a comfortable bed, plenty of information on surrounding area and also surrounded by very beautiful scenery.Mick and Laraine were wonderful hosts making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.Overall it was such an enjoyable week and we would highly recommend this cosy cottage.

“A marvelous holiday!”

The first intention when we arrived was: "We are at home". The cottage's interior is a well done mixture between modern and traditional. Our hearty hosts Laraine and Mick prepared with dedication the cottage and provided a welcome pack with fresh bread, marmalade, eggs, coffee and tea. We appreciated the bunches of flowers freshly cut from the garden and we felt very welcomed. We had beautiful sunshine and warm weather and every morning we ate breakfast on the terrace and enjoyed the stunning view over the shore. A lot of information on the area with ideas and things to do were provided and both told us some ideas which we wouldn't have known from the guide books. The cottage itself is the perfect spot to discover the whole Beara-Peninsula as it is located on the Ring of Beara and near Castletownbere. We had a wonderful and relaxing holiday and would like to come back some day and definitely recommend it to others.

“Simply perfect!”

A really really beautiful cottage in a quiet place. It is about 150 years old an new refurbished. Just what you should expect from a traditional Irish cottage! It has everything you need for a stay - washer/dryer, microwave, freezer, wood-burning-stove, electrical heating, sat-TV and a really nice welcome package with fresh bread, eggs, milk and marmalade. The friendly owners live just around the corner in a separate building are always there in case you need anything. The cottage is clean and tidy and the furnishing is nice, light and modern: White washed stone walls, white and cream coloured wood - we even had fresh flowers in every room! So this is the perfect accomodation for hiking and sightseeing tours on the Beara peninsula. If you are not used to broadband internet-connection day and night and if you a re searching for relaxation in a quiet surrounding with impressive nature just right outside the door - Four Directions Cottage should be your first choice.

“I fully recommend it and intend to go back there again one day”

If you are looking for a holiday that provides; stunning views, great walking territory (including a small mountain), coastal walks (with amazing sea views) and yet is still close enough to a small town which has great pubs and restaurants, then this area of Ireland is a MUST for you. Myself and three friends visited this part of Ireland and stayed in this cottage based on a recommendation from another friend who had stayed here before us. Waking up and returning home to this adorable little self-catering cottage was one of the best parts of the holiday. The owners are very friendly and provided us with a generous delivery of fresh soda bread and newly laid eggs, and with enough ready chopped wood to keep the cosy fire of our wood burner going all night. I fully recommend it and intend to go back there again one day.

“Private peaceful location - cottage kept very clean and to a high standard”

We had a very restful 4 day break in Four Directions Cottage.
If you are looking for a peaceful, private setting, very close to amenities, this cottage is for you. We sat outside in the evening, with a glass of wine, looking out to wonderful views in all directions and all we could hear was sheep calling in the distance.
The cottage is very well equipped, kept very clean and to a high standard.
You will not be disappointed.

“Idyllic Honeymoon”

My new husband and I spent 2 days of our honeymoon in four directions cottage and it's even nicer than it looks in the photos. This cottage has been recently renovated and from the white washed stone walls inside to the red door outside, it's been beautifully done.
Mick and Laraine were so friendly and left some beautiful fresh bread for us along with other essentials (butter, milk etc). They also left a bottle of Prosecco for us as we were their first honeymooners :-)
We were pleasantly surprised to find that the cottage is located at the foot of Hungry Hill so we were able to climb that on our first evening and then walk to the nearby beach the following day.
I just wish we could have stayed longer :-)
