In all of our 6 trips to Ireland, we never stayed at a self-catering accommodation and we're so glad we did! Being an avid organic gardener, I searched and searched for a kindred spirit to stay with, and we found that with Joan, Charlotte, Bertie, Daisy & friend and the ever curious feline family! I'm utterly impressed with all the thoughtfulness Joan has put into choosing the right plants to feed and heat her family. Most people would need several acres to accomplish this.
We stayed in the Croft--it was so lovely. I do need to add, though, if you have any physical disabilities, you may want to stay in The Gallery as it is one floor. Joan's welcome basket lasted us the entire time we were there--thank you! And, we were so happy to have the time on our own without a morning schedule for breakfast. It's the perfect location between Skibbereen and Baltimore. The walk to Spain was a bit longer than husb. thought it would be, yet he is still talking about how much fun it was to have Bertie along.
We happily recommend staying here---even if you're coming from the U.S., this particular self-catering homestead is warm and inviting.More
