“The Perfect Cottage Getaway”
Reviewed 29 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Book this beautiful little find and you won't be disappointed for any time of the year. We found it whilst looking online and booked it for a week without hesitation after reading the lovely reviews. Gwyn kept in touch via email, helping us with any questions and directions.
On arrival Gwyn and Christine the owners welcomed us into the cottage offering to help us unpack the car which was lovely. First impression was it oozed character and the owners were just delightful.
Once settled in we realised how happy we were here. The owners had thought of everything that you could possibly need and put it into the cottage. Firewood to get us going, logs, mince pies and a carrot, fresh flowers, white fairy lights and the best was a Terry's chocolate orange, so thoughtful. Also a little tree was in the cottage as it was Christmas time and we popped some fairy lights on it to make it sparkle. Just lovely.
The cottage is right opposite Gwyn and Christine's home but for me this was an added extra. They weren't at all invasive, they offered ideas, advice on the area, humour, interesting stories and a lovely wee blether here and there if you wanted.
The cottage itself is beautiful and I don't exaggerate. It's quirky, cute, full of character and spotlessly clean. We were looking for something wonderfully different and this experience exceeded it.
We ventured on a few little excursions our favourite being in the local town of Baltimore. 'The Beacon' is a must see. The views are spectacular. I've been lucky enough to travel the world and this was in my top ten of views. We walked around Lough Hyne, beautiful. Gywn recommended The Church Restaurant in Baltimore for lunch and it was full of atmosphere with a wee tasty lunch to go alongside it.
We both lead busy lives and travel so it was wonderful to find somewhere not that far away from where we live in Offaly and relax. We drank wine and Rum in front of the blazing fire most evenings whilst listening to music. The wifi was fantastic. I brought my MacBook so we had Netflix there if we wanted. I'm writing my first novel so this place felt the perfect retreat for it whilst Aidan (my partner) tucked into a few books which showed me he was truly relaxed. There is a television but we never had it on. The kitchen had all amenities and if you're missing something Baltimore and Skiberreen were a wee drive away. The Mezzanine was beautiful with a daybed and great views of the countryside and the living room below.
There were DVDs, books, cards etc to entertain yourself with.
You know what I could go on and on. I've never been so heartbroken to leave a holiday in my life so we are looking to rebook again for a week in 2017 sometime.
If you want somewhere with hills covered in goats, the odd pet having a wander, a unique cottage with the most delightful hosts, well I can highly recommend this wonderful place.
The perfect Christmas present from my lovely fella.

Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Wonderful week in a cosy cottage with warm and charmful owners - everything there-even own place outside and garage for motorbike. Goats on the hill but you have a chance to milk and prepare cheese.
Thank you Christine & Gwyn

“A Simply outstanding place in a gorgeous part of the world”

Christine & Gwyn Owen do everything possible to make your stay perfect and the attention to detail is second to none.
Even if you ignore the fact that surrounding Ardagh Castle Goat Farm is the stunning scenery of West Cork, where walks to or around Lough Hyne, Spain, The Beacon and Baltimore Harbour are just some of the delights you can experience.
Even if you forget the opportunity to go Whale Watching, or take trips to the stunning Sherkin and Cape Clear Islands.
The you are left with just relaxing in a delightful cottage nestling in the shadow of a hill that once housed a castle but is now home to a few goats looked after almost as well, (maybe even better) than you are by the owners.

“Very cute cottage in a lovely setting”

Just returned from our week at Ardagh Castle Goat farm and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were greeted by the very friendly owners with fresh scones/cream. Gywn and Christine have manged the prefect balance between helpfulness/friendliness but will also not disturb guests. We even learnt to make goats cheese and plan to continue this in the coming weeks at home. The cottage has one main sitting area/kitchen, full sized bathroom and 1 double bedroom. There is also a mezzanine with a double day bed. Having a front door on to the courtyard and also a back door giving access to the patio area. All facilities were available inc free WiFi. Its about a 40 minute walk to Baltimore but taxis from Skibereen serve this area too. Great restaurants/cafes in the area would be Rolfs, Good Things, Glebe Gardens & Cafe, Le Jolie Brise and the Sibin (really fresh and well cooked simple food). Would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all break. Thanks Gwyn/Christine.

A fantastic retreat if you're looking for peace, tranquility and beautiful scenery. The cottage is stunning, full of character and extremely welcoming especially at the end of a long walk. Gwyn and Christine went out of their way to make me feel welcome and ensure I had everything I needed! Thank you so much! Highly recommended!! Xxxxxx

“A wonderful welcome”
Reviewed 11 December 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We arrived a little early but were made very welcome by Gwyn and Christine. The cottage was really comfortable with all that you could hope for, even scones and jam on the table ready.
During our stay I was allowed to help with milking a goat - quite a novel experience!
I would certainly recommend this rental, the area is just beautiful, the trips from the harbour gave plenty of choice. We went out and saw a humpback whale and lots of dolphins in the bay.
Please consider this for an interesting and relaxing holiday.

We spent 7 days at the cottage on the Ardagh Goat Farm and could not have been more pleased!! An excellent, relaxing country getaway for two city mice!!

The new owners (who reside in an adjacent house) were wonderfully attentive as we settled in. We learned that they had previously been guests themselves that fell in love with the place!

So peaceful, with dark quiet nights - From the hill above the farm, we could see for miles.

The bed was very comfortable, the loft spacious and the living room/kitchenette was relaxing. I lit a fire every night, and we found the place to be an excellent getaway.

Baltimore itself had some great pubs and the surrounding area offered ferries to the islands, hiking - the trek out to The Beacon was well worth it, wonderful food and scenery.

We would gladly visit again.
