“A stunning place to visit and stay at”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

What a stunning place to stay and if you are lucky enough to get the weather you must take in some of the grounds and gardens. Whilst this is quite a large place there is something very cosy about it especially when the fire in the bar is lit. The rooms are stunning with everything you need.

Stayed here last weekend for a night with a group of friends. From the minute we arrived at the hotel it was fabulous. Both the staff and the service were fantastic. The room was quite large with beautiful décor that suited the hotel and surrounds. We had afternoon noon in Knights Bar and dinner in the Bell Tower and both were superb. Breakfast was lovely with an excellent choice on the menu. The spa and leisure facilities were all also excellent. Beautiful grounds for walks. Would have liked to opportunity to eat in Franchini’s, so will have to return again to do this! Will most certainly be back.

We stayed here in Early January. Was checked in and escorted to our room. The second the door was opened we were hit by the heat. The room was like a sauna. The bell hop then 'said let me just get the A/C on' and then left. Two hours later the room was still extremely hot and uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep it was that uncomfortably warm. the touchscreen by the front door wouldn't turn off so was putting a blue light across the room, I need darkness to sleep in. This was a bad situation. First thing next morning I complained to the reception and she seemed non fussed and just changed the room not offering any apology. then we had problems with the keys. Second room was perfect but the experience of the first night ruined the trip for me. If a hotel charges this much they should be offering a perfect service.

Room Tip: Make sure the AC works.

Lovely resort, particularly loved the walks in the woods. Food was unreal, the Italian place and the other restaurant both fab. Found the attention to detail amazing too. Only qualm...it's a bit steep pricewise.

I recently availed of an excellent deal from livingsocial website & enjoyed a lovely stay in castlemartyr resort! Hotel building is fabulous & the grounds are excellently maintained. Staff are helpful & the food is good. Room was comfortable and although I can't say anything particularly negative about castlemartyr resort I don't think I'll make a return visit. The hotel is vast & maybe because of this it lacks a feeling of intimacy and homeliness. A wonderful spot but not one I'll be putting on my list of favourites!

My husband and I after alot of searching for the perfect venue decided on castlemartyr resort for our big day.
We met with Jackie Day(wedding organiser) on numerous occasions and we were both taken back by her professionalism and charm. She listened in detail to our requests and on the day everything surpassed our expectations.
A few months before the wedding we enjoyed a very memorable food tasting experience where we wined and dined by the very efficient waitress Tiu. This was truly a night to remember.
The weather wasn't great on our wedding day but the staff and Jackie made sure my husband and I remained dry. They were outside in the rain to greet us with huge umbrellas and practically reversed our vintage car to main door . Inside All our guests commented on the true splendour of the function room and the huge Xmas tree. The wedding party said that bedrooms were excellent, the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
We both definitely would recommend the castlemartyr resort as an ideal wedding venue and we would sincerely like to thank Jackie and all the staff including Michael and Una who made our day so magical, a day which we will never forget.
So if anybody is reading this and are thinking of the perfect wedding venue we would highly recommend this hotel. We just wish we could do it all over again. In short it was the best day of our lives!!

I'm just back from a fantastic weekend in Castlemartyr, our room was even better than we could have imagined. We just loved the general ambience in the hotel, very calm and welcoming. I would highly recommend availing of a spa treatment while at the hotel as it was one of the highlights. We had a slight issue during our stay but Cathal the manager went above and beyond in his kind and professional manner in listening to our issue. The whole weekend was amazing and we will definitely be coming back.
