Reviewed 15 August 2014

Though we live only 20 miles from Castlemartyr, it felt more like 2000, so relaxing and refreshing was our 2 night break Warm Irish welcome, smiling staff, beautifully appointed room greeting card from manager, chocolate dipped strawberries , absolute tranquility at night, long walks, calming spa treatments-what more could you ask for!! Other reviewers have commented on the long walk to bedrooms- you need that walk to work off breakfast. Well done to all who present famed Irish hospitality at its best.

Dear Lilan D,
It's great to see such a wonderful honest review on this forum. We really do try so hard to create a magical moment at least once for all our guests during their stay here, whether it be chocolate dipped strawberries or a beautiful sunset! We can arrange almost anything and nothing is too much trouble. I am delighted that you live so close to us but felt so far away, you really could be anywhere in the world. I look forward to seeing you soon in Castlemartyr, make sure you contact me directly if you are ever considering making the long journey to us!!
Warm regards
Cathal and the team.

Castlemartyr is definitely a five start hotel with great staff, food, service, spacious rooms and beautiful grounds. It is walking distance from the village of Castlemartyr for a change of scene, or breakfast in a nice coffee shop. We got a great deal online so I genuinely think the hotel is good value for money. I think the decor, whilst nice, is very typical of what people think a five star hotel should look like i.e. not very original. I would definitely recommend.

We are happy and relaxed after our few days here!
Old world charm and quality service and all round irish hospitality! The Cead Mile Failte is here on tap! The staff are what make it, friendly smiles and friendly banter!
Special thanks to Lucia who looked after us for breakfast!
This is a special lady with charm and warmth and a quality waitress to boot! She made our day after looking after us for breakfast!
Can't wait to return!
Brilliant all round

We were attending a friends wedding in Ballyvolane House and decided to stay here for the two nights. It is the most tranquil, beautiful place we have ever stayed! The grounds are just magnificent, every member of staff you meet is nicer than the next, there are bikes you can rent and the breakfast is out of this world. The bathroom is huge with a gorgeous walk in rainfall shower, and sunken tub. The bed is the biggest we have ever stayed in and the most comfortable. The curtains and lights are all operated on remote control and the turn down service was a lovely extra.

There is also a Nespresso machine in your room which was a great addition! We have yet to stay somewhere where the attention to detail is so spectacular.

This was a one night stay and it was very enjoyable. The staff were always helpful and the rooms are exceptional. The only downside was that the bar area isn't very welcoming; wrong shape, no atmosphere and very few customers. It could do with a revamp.

Dear John M.
Thanks for your review of Castlemartyr, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and you were relaxed leaving, unfortunetly I cannot do anything about the shape of the Knights Bar, I can however look at the comments you have made and communicate them to my engineering team for immediate review.
I hope to see you back in Castlemartyr sometime soon.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in early August...and we were impressed with this hotel...huge bedroom and bathroom with walk in wardrobe...very classy. The only negative would be Francini's....not much of a selection on the menu...and service was not very good. However, it did not detract from this fabulous hotel, so much so, that we have booked to stay again in the near future!
