“Good clean rooms but poor breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013 via mobile

We stayed here on our way from cork to donegal. The room is spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom was superb. The breakfast however was a let down. The staff were trying to organise the room for another event even though it was only 9am so we weren't really greeted with the best of welcomes. The food variety was poor and the cooked breakfast only fair. Shame because the hotel was otherwise good

Extremely clean and nice hotel. It is fantastic value for money including a lovely cooked breakfast.
I will definitely be back.
If you're looking for a really good standard basic hotel this is the place.

We have just returned from an organized tour of Southern Ireland. the last hotel before returning to Dublin was the Ard Ri House Hotel. The reception staff were very competent and friendly. The room was very clean as was the bath/shower. Although the food in the restaurant wasn't wow - it was adequate - maybe after staying in three hotels on this holiday which weren't up to standard we were very happy with both staff and accommodation at the Ard Ri.

I have no idea how this hotel can such a high rating.
It is a half finished hotel. The back of this hotel is a abandon building site! Its location is at the top of a housing estate on the main N17 about a mile from Tuam. Not the most attractive place in the world.
The food is so basic, its fine if you’re not looking for a nice meal.
The rooms are ok., just ok.
If you’re working in the area and are looking for a B&B for the night this place is fine. If you’re looking for a little more go elsewhere.

Room Tip: travel another 15 miles in either direction to get a lot better hotel.

Went to the Ard Ri House Hotel for a bit of food with the family and ordered from a pleasant waitress starters arrived decent enough but half way through our meal we got a new waiter whom was rushing around and just seemed to want us out asap. Our mains arrived 2 were nice I was told, third meal was missing a lot of variety of veg as one in our party had a different dietary requirement but it looked like the other persons main suffered a lack of variety as a result of this. The vegetarian option was very poor lots of small deep fried brie surrounding a mountain of lettuce with full pieces of oily tough sundried tomatoes may have been nice as a small starter but it was disappointing as a main and not filling. Childs main was badly charred goujons with a lot of breadcrumb missing (had been overcooked). We all avoided deserts as disappointed but child waited 20 minutes for ice cream and chocolate sauce which looked like another substance smeared on top, presentation was shocking. On top of that a bill for €85 including tip (yes i know i did tip the nice waitress i shouldn't of done but i did and didn't complain!!) so too expensive, food quality poor for some people a real mixed bag. Please note kids expect quality food also and should not be handed rubbish which this young person was.

I will start to say that I have eaten in this hotel before & it was excellent. But today was a disaster my parents and I wanted a late lunch so when we got to the bar I had to ask for menus, then ask for a waiter to take our order and then had to ask twice where our food was, we ordered 3 roast specials (2 beef & 1 chicken), when the food finally arrived 20/25 minutes later the beef was so tough we asked for it to be replaced, no apology! another 10 minutes the replacement meals arrived! We spent a full hour for a meal that should have taken 20 minutes tops!
Will not return on this type of service

I Can't speak highly enough of this hotel!
Had the pleasure of staying here twice recently! From waking in to check in to having breakfast and leaving everything was perfect!
I arrived one night at 11.45pm hungry and tired. The barman (think his name was Liam) made me a sandwich with side salad at midnight which was very much appreciated!
Would recommend this hotel to anybody!!
