We stopped here on our way to Renvyle after good reports on this site. Happy to report it lived up to our expectations. Friendly staff great food and surprisingly good value. There were even some good characters at the bar adding to the atmosphere. Would definitely stop here again.

This is the real Ireland. From the hauntingly beautiful Irish ballads and music performed live by the talented local musicians to the wonderful food and outstanding Irish coffees, you feel so welcome. The owner, Dermot, is as charming and attentive a host as you could imagine. The local people make you feel right at home with the loveliest sing-song Irish brogue and great stories...of course, the Guinness flows...reminds me of "Cheers" - Irish style. Well worth several visits! Thank you, Dermot, for a fabulous time!

We visited here on our trip to Ireland last year (2012) and could not pass up another visit when my sister and I visited Oughterard again in October 2013. My sister loves a pint of Guinness ( I prefer Smithwick's) and we both love pub food. The staff is always welcoming and the food is always delicious. We never had to wait long for our order to arrive. Dermot, the owner, is always very friendly and will always took the time to chat, ask about our plans and offer suggestions. I was surprised that he remembered us from our 2012 visit. He has offered to help with all our plans for our next visit (golfing, fishing etc.) when we hope family will join us.
Yes, it can be a busy place but it is worth the wait to eat here. It is a fun atmosphere no matter what day or time you are there.
