Ross Lake House can only be described as the perfect place to stay if you're looking for that "somewhere special"! We discovered this delightful hotel last June on our honeymoon, tucked away in it's own beautiful surroundings in the stunning Connemara countryside. Not only is this old fashioned, yet very special hotel, with it's individually designed bedrooms, which are spotless I might add, (with VERY comfortable beds) an ideal place to stay, but the owners, Henry and Elaine, are the heart and soul of the hotel. They make time for their guests and do everything in their power to make your stay there an experience you'll want to repeat..........which we did last month for our anniversary, and will do again!! Their maître'd, Joe, is so professional and knowledgeable, yet so witty .....a real asset to the team. If you want to escape from the boring, generic 'could be anywhere' hotel, then this is absolutely the place for you. Last but definitely not least, we have to mention the food.........DELICIOUS!.........fresh, sophisticated but (as Joe would say) not messed with!! Can't recommend this hotel enough. Just remember to enjoy the whole experience and accept it for what it is - and old fashioned, delightful break away, with everything you expect from wonderful Irish hospitality at it's best!!!!!!!!! Book now and enjoy!

We really enjoyed Ross Lake. Stayed two nights , very comfortable room and bed and bathroom was good.We had dinner in the restaurant the first night we were there and really enjoyed our very good meal. The hosts Elaine and Henry were great and welcoming. We loved the location in the country but were only 10 minutes away from the nearest village. The waiter Joe was brilliant and funny and we enjoyed everything about our stay there. Highly recommended.

What ever you do!!! do not ring this hotel looking for any hotel information of any kind!!! as you get screamed at numerous times for wasting their time, then they hang up the phone on you!! upon calling back to get a name to make a complaint they still shout down the phone and they refuse to say whom is speaking while shouting and that they will report me to the telecom people?, and I'm just a Student trying to do some research, in no way was I rude or anything to deserve such treatment, I do realize this is a busy time for everyone in industry but I do not see why I was treated in such a horrible manor!!! especially when they are supposed to be a family run four star hotel.... to me that is disgraceful!!

Firstly, Hennry is a hoot and not at all stuffy!Elaine is a most gracious hostess and together with Tom, the charming, attentive and very witty waiter, the three of them make a winning team. My husband and I just spent a sun-soaked 3-day weekend in fabulous Connemara to escape the stresses of the city and had the pleasure of staying in Ross Lake House hotel.
I want to stress this is NOT a boutique hotel with muted colours, soft-pile carpets, muzak and ice-cool staff. The decor is in keeping with the vintage of the house. There are plenty of great hotels in the area to suit all tastes. If you lean towards 'modern' and will require WiFi in your rooms from sunrise to sunset then try another location.
What you will receive in Rosscahill however, is a toasty warm reception and probably the best sleep since your time in a cot! We woke each morning to the sound of ...nothing. Well perhaps, just a butterfly or two.....
We got just what we needed from our weekend, and skipped into work this morning totally refreshed.

We traveled with another couple who recommended this hotel. It was the highlight of our trip. The food and service was top rate, and the rooms clean with super comfortable beds. It is peaceful and quiet. Dinner was truly one of the best meals in my travels. If you're looking for some r&r in a 19th century manor house, this place is for you. If not, why would you go there?
