Description: PUB OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND 10AM TILL LATE FOOD SERVED FROM MARCH UNTIL NOVEMBER 12-4 6-9 EVERYDAY Last orders 8.45 In spring 2011, Peter Curtin embarked on a new endeavour: He set up the Burren Brewery in the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna. The building, which in 1865 started off as a pub, then was expanded into a bakery, now also harbours a micro-brewery under its roof. At the same time it is an eatery and a renowned music venue for traditional and contemporary music. Peter realised very quickly how complicated and time-consuming it was to brew his own beer - it really is a labour of love. He enrolled the help of a Master Brewer, and the result can now be tasted in the Roadside Tavern: The Burren Gold is a delicious, characterful lager. The mainstream lagers available every-where just cannot compete with this one!The Burren Red with its great red colour is a spicy, slightly sweet ale which even features a hint of smoke. It seems to become the favourite among the punters at the Roadside! The Burren Black is a stout that does not have to fear the competition of a certain other black stuff. It is smooth and full-bodied, with a creamy crown of froth on top - and definitely alive inside! A heavenly drink.

“Cracking meal, excellent service, lovely pub”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Visited here on a saturday evening for dinner with my wife. Menu was short but excellent. Beautiful fresh fish cooked perfectly and wonderfully presented. The pub has a lovely old style country atmosphere with a couple of musicians unobtrusively playing tunes. It also brews its own beers and owns the nearby smokehouse - the hot smoked salmon on the menu was delicious. Highly recommended.

“Could live here!”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Great grub, excellent music, good craic and their own craft beer, I didn't want to leave! Ciaran, our host, took time to chat to us and he was very patient with my questions regarding their brewing process. We had a great night here and noted that all of the other diners, both young and old, seemed to be equally happy. I will definitely be calling again.

“Good to follow the TripAdvisor Reviews”

Knowing we were staying at the Royal Spa Hotel which is just around the corner, I checked out the reviews for this tavern and would agree with much of the positive reviews. We all had excellent meals and drink for a good price.

If only they accepted credit cards...

“Good food, amazing atmosphere.”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Ohhhhhh Listdoonvarna (you have to listen to the Christy Moore song to understand). Although apparently heaving in September, at the end of July Listdoonvarna in the day was dead. I walked past the Roadside Tavern about 3pm and it was very quiet, perhaps 7-8 in the pub. I had a good smoked salmon sandwich, and went back to my hotel for a few hours kip. Heading out later, all of the pubs along the main stretch looked quiet. Now the deal is that the hotels in Listdoonvarna are used by coach tours during the evening, so after about 8-9 the tourists (mainly it seemed from Germany), flood out and fill the pubs up. Anyway, I thought I'd try the Roadside Tavern again. Walked in and it was busy, lots of locals, travellers, tourists. Great pint of Guinness. Then about 9pm a few musicians started playing, then a few more came in, and by about 10:00pm there were between 10-15 musicians all playing together. It was amazing. Perhaps it was only on Thursday nights? Don't know. Anyway one of the better nights I've had in a pub.
