My husband and I stayed here for one night recently, we had intended to stay for a few nights if we liked the place, however it did not take long for us to realise it would be for one night only. First of all the allocated room on ground floor was very small with a double and single bed, which left very little room to get around, there was approx a 12" space between end of bed and dressing table which extended along the length of the wall, and approx the same space between the beds.
The bathroom was fine, quite spacious with clean towels etc, shower was good with good pressure.
Room was clean with but decor and fittings were very dated and could do with a facelift.
Our biggest problem was the noise levels which started at approx at 7am, it would appear there is no soundproofing at all as the noise from the room overhead was deafening which woke us up from ur sleep, this noisewas just from the occupants of that room moving around and doing their thing. next thing the cleaners got into action and with the noise created by them there was no way we were going to have a lie-in, even though we were on holidays and check out time was not until 12 mid-day.
Breakfast served between 8am and 10am, too early finish for people on holidays, then again I expect the early finish time is a cost saving measure, the less meals served the more money saved, espiceally since the cost of accomodation included B&B.
We checked out at 12 noon, without our breakfast, without our sleep and a desision made we would never set foot in The hydro hotel ever again.

Room Tip: Get room on top floor to cut down on noise levels. do not stay here if you intend to have a late sle...

From the moment we pulled up outside we knew this was a fantastic place. The location and parking is excellent, 2 mins walk into the heart of the town. A beautiful entry and lobby give a truly irish feel, with high ceilings, beautiful stonework and woodwork complimented by a happy smiling welcoming staff. The lovely Sue on reception was cheerful, welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We received a beautiful room at the top of the grand staircase, overlooking the grounds to the front of the hotel. The room decor was beautiful, exceptionally clean, warm and inviting, very spacious and bright with lovely floor to ceiling windows. Food in the restaurant was lovely and very reasonably priced, we got exactly what we ordered which was refreshing and an excellent, friendly and more than helpful waiter Joseph who was patient and attentive even under pressure with a busy restaurant also hosting a tour. Music was also on in the bar each night from 9. A very child friendly, welcoming and charming hotel that I would have no hesitation in recommending. It may sound too good to be true...believe me this is a must for any family looking for a few days away

Room Tip: Overlooking the front grounds seems quiet yet you have a view

I only spent two nights in thus hotel on a Shearings Tour and it was two nights too many. Dirty bathroom, broken fitments, horrendous food - unless you like Lasagne with Tartare sauce and very poor service - they won't put you in the main restaurant so expect to sit on hard seats in the squashed and unappealing bar area if you are with Shearings!!! It is in the middle of nowhere and does not have one saving grace - give it a wide miss! Give Shearings a miss whilst you are at it!!!

Room Tip: Try another hotel

Our name is Lisa and Brian. We stayed in the Hydro Hotel in Lisdoonvarna in Co. Clare Ireland in July 2012 and we had 1 yr old twins with us. Anyone travelling here with twins or without have to stay at the Hydro the staff were so friendly and catered for our every need as you can imagine it was quite busy with twins and they were always asking us if we needed anything just call. Marcus the Manager has done a fantastic job with the staff and the hotel in general.

I found this hotel very nice, the corridors and staircases looked like newly refurbished or well looked after, the room was big and warm, staff very nice, breakfast served by efficient waiters. What I really liked - it was so quiet there, and it was Bank Holiday Weekend and they were busy. I would recommend and stay again.

Lisdoonvarna was an unscheduled stop for us. We were touring Ireland and wanted to stay somewhere near the Cliffs of Mohr and happened upon The Hydroi Hotel. We stopped in to see if they had a room avaiable as well as check the price; happily they had a room and the price was reasonable. The manager was there when we were checking in and he was very friendly and helpful. The room had 2 double beds both of which could have (should have) been replaced as well as a very small T.V. The bathroom was quite nice and had been renovated in the not too distant past. All in all a very nice hotel for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor as the view is lovely

Have not long returned from six day coach tour with GB Tours. Hotel food very good, but room was initially cold. Entertainment fair but nowhere to sit and relax except for small lounge area. Got moved around for meals on last two/three days to accommodate German population. Staff very pleasant. A bit annoyed as having placed drinks on room number discovered on the last day that 20 cents was added to each round if you didn't pay cash at the bar. Pleasant stay but bad weather and not many places to walk to but overall okay.
