Its located on the outskirts of the town and is a pleasant mix of the original building and the modernised rooms. Dinner was ok but nothing special. Breakfast time and we seemed to be invisible after we were seated. Took a while to get some service and then only as we asked. It was ok when it came.

The Hydro is an excellent 3 star hotel near the centreof the village and its amenities. It is based on a 19C building with subsequent additions. The hotel has a slightly old fashioned look , The public rooms have lots of lovely wooden features, with many pictures decorating the walls . The building is nicely decorated to a high standard.
All the staff were excellent. They were helpful, attentetive and efficient. Everything was well organised.
Food was of a good standard to a well thought out menu, beautifully served with true Irish charm( despite the fact that few seemed local )
The bedroom was somewhat compact , and the beds extremely comfortable. the en suite was roomy enough and immaculate. Everything worked.
Our visit was very comfortable and enjoyable.
Apart from the slightly small bedroom and dining room chairs being a little hard, everything was first class, and highly recommendable

Room Tip: We had a room on the left of the entrance , which looked out over a playing field which was interest...

We stayed for two nights, using as a base to sight see the local area.
The Burren is an amazing place and well worth a visit.
Our room was extremely spacious and clean with a view over the Burren.
The TV was small but only used it as background noise.
The food was of a good standard as was the wine.
From our friendly welcome to the goodbye, we felt as though our patronage was important to the staff.
Will visit again.

Won a voucher for a two night stay. Great location. Breakfast was good. Lots to do in this area. Check out the burren, the caves and birds of prey at alliwee. Amazing part of the country. Has to be seen to be believed. We went off peak, so didn't get to experience many trad sessions that lisdoonvarna is famous for unfortunately. This hotel is great value for money so will stay here again when visiting this area. The outside is deceptive. Has the feel of a castle on the inside with bare stone walls and high ceilings. Interlinking rooms would have been handy with kids but can't fault our stay. Good base to see this part of the county. Didn't try the restaurant.

The Hydro Hotel was a beautiful historic hotel within walking distance of the local pub! The wait staff during meals were terrific! Friendly and attentive. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel itself was clean and in great shape especially for its age! Would love to go back again!

the hotel itself was fine.on a positive note the bed was as clean and comfortable as I have ever experienced. the staff were very friendly and helpful. we had to ring reception as we couldn't work any of the electrical appliances but it was only the trip switch, unfortunately the lack of hot water couldn't be remedied. what really made me feel cheated was the food. it was worse than bad, it was dire, terrible, disgusting. only the festival menu was available. it read like something from the seventies, egg mayo, soup, melon prawns etc etc, the mains were in a similar vein, salmon, turkey, roast of the day, steak etc etc, sound familiar?. ok, so that was bad enough, when our mains came the baked doolin salmon was just that, baked, baked and then baked some more, the veg was bad the potatoes had sat sp long in a bain marie it had turned a lovely shade of grey!. the desserts were bought in , the thing is it wasnt cheap and it was beyond belief bad. the breakfast was bad as well, the puddings had been given the same treatment as the salmon, it was inedible.. to sum up, if you want to relive the culinary 'delights' of the 1970's only not as well executed then eat here but do so at your own peril

I have been staying in this hotel for the last 7 years ( & hopefully for many more years to come) & have always found it very friendly & well run. In fact, considering it is quite a large hotel, the ambiance is more like a bed & breakfast in that the staff, from the owner downwards treat you as an individual rather than a number. The entertainment is first class, the location is ideal for exploring the local area, which incidentally, in my opinion, is just about the nicest part of Ireland, if you have never visited this part of the country, you are in for a real treat.
