Just home from a 5 day break which included two nights in Lisdoonvarna. The first night we had a meal in an establishment in the small Square in Lisdoonvarna which could only be described as poor. The second night in the Rathbaun was excellent! Four of us had such a meal and stayed on for the music and the beer! Thanks Rathbaun, well done!

We stayed here for one night here and we had a very pleasant enjoyable experience. John was courteous, made us feel welcome and carried our bags to our room. This is an old Victorian Hotel so some people may find it lacking in elegance, but our room was clean, bed comfortable and the food was excellent. All the young waitresses were very efficient and courteous. We could not fault any of the service we received,
Only one little problem with the top step on the stairs - its a high riser with a narrow tread which makes one feel unsafe as there is a glass fire door at the bottom.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel so didn't have a 'view' but we were very happy with it.

Myself and my boyfriend stopped in here in the evening to have dinner and enjoy some live music as it did come very highly recommended by the hotel we stayed in. The food was decent, decor simple and the music very pleasant, but we could not fail to notice the way the young staff are treated by the man with the beard who we can only assume was either the manager or the owner. Public beratings and humiliations are not neccessary in an establishment of this standard and really spoilt the atmosphere. It's not right and it's not okay.

We had a fantastic "mini break" in the Rathbaun Hotel Lisdoonvarna last week. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the owner "John" who went to great lengths' to explain the local amenities' and facilities to us. We were allowed have our dog stay with us. During our 3 days' there, we were treated to what can only be described to as the best of personal attention, right down to the minutest detail. Our room and all areas' of the hotel were sparkling clean. Not a single speck of dust to be seen. The bathroom was gleaming. We noticed the care being given to train new staff. Any staff trained by this hotel will indeed be great ambassadors for Ireland's Hospitality!. The food was cooked by the other owner. It was delicious. Particular dietary requirements of one of us was catered excellently for. The music each night was lovely, We will be back...and soon. Thank you from John. Teresa and Jessie.

Did we ever enjoy our stay here. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Our room was actually quite large and was clean. We had a late supper at the bar/restaurant downstairs and ended up so happy with that decision. Best fish and chips on our whole trip and authentic Irish music.
