On arrival the reception staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Our room was a family room on the fifth floor which was excellent we were thrilled with the size as in some hotels they try to fit in all beds into a double room rather than have rooms assigned for families.. The en suite was very spacious and it had a separate shower and bath which also was excellent. We had bar food on both nights of our stay and again we were very pleased with the friendly staff and the excellent quality of the food. Excellent location was able to leave the car in the car park for the duration of our stay and could walk everywhere. Fabulous views of the river Shannon and Sts. Peter and Paul Church which was illuminated by night. Would recommend this hotel highly even though I had read not so kind reviews beforehand. If ever in Athlone will return here.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your kind review of our hotel, I was delighted to see that you really enjoyed your time with us here in the Radisson. We always strive to provide the best service to all hotel guests and exceed their expectations.
I will pass your lovely comments onto our team in the bar and at the front desk, it is great for them to see the positive comments and helps them keep motivated in their work.
Our family rooms are often commented on about how large and suitable spacious they are for the family market, I am glad it fitted to what you were looking for.

Thanking you most sincerely for your appreciated business, Hopefully we will see you back in Athlone again in the very near future.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay here, best buffet breakfast going and evening meal was fantastic. Friendliest waiting staff we have encountered in a long time. Close to some great pubs.

The bathroom in the bedroom was grubby-picture of the mould on the tiles enclosed. Overall the room was grubby-carpets needed a good clean, general maintenance was lacking.

The staff were poorly presented, none them had any semblance of a uniform on. The demeanour and professionalism of the night porter was all wrong. He could have gone to the Basil Fawlty School of Hotel Management.

I paid a fair price for the room, so u might ask, "Why the negative comments?". I believe the cheap rooms come at the price of quality and service standards and that is not good.

one night stay here in a great family room... spacious ...still think in our experience that two connecting rooms much better.. this was one huge room with wall dividing partly and then when children went to sleep you were very conscious of having tv on on our side or talking much really. Lot of noise coming from outside hotel surprisingly considering we were on the top floor. We opened the Velux windows for air and the noise level carried all way up. Thank goodness too tired for it to affect our sleep,!! Fabulous breakfast... and I mean fab..everyone enjoyed... So tasty and variety great.. Swimming pool a bit on the small side but was clean as were the changing rooms.. good hot showers ... pity no jacuzzi would have been nice to relax in while watching the kids.....All in all a nice place to stay and very helpful staff ... We all enjoyed. !!

Room Tip: we were on the fifth floor and suprised at noise level coming up from outside hotel/street ? but not...

Scruffy-staff member who checked us in looked like she had been pulled through a hedge backwards.
Grubby-overall bedroom cleanliness appalling, carpets not cleaned, mould in tile grouting in bathroom, bedroom walls not cleaned, marble top on table broken in half, sticky wooden floors, appears no general maintenance done in room for a long time.
Funny-the night porter must have gone to the Fawlty Towers Hotel Management School, great entertainment at 2am, but his demeanour and appearance wasn't professional. Makes a killer plain cheese sandwich though.
Forgetful-my wife ordered a poached egg at breakfast and it never appeared.
Overall-got the room cheap and some people would say why are you complaining? It doesn't matter what price you pay, it should not be at the cost of quality and service.

We were given a business class room which had a lovely view overlooking the river. The room was of a high standard, well equipped and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a great selection and all staff were very pleasant. Should we ever return to Athlone this is where we will stay.

Have stayed here twice. Excellent Location town center with free parking, very close to good restaurants and bars. Found the bar to be good in the hotel very lively the nights we stayed there and the food was good. The pool was in good order. Breakfast which was included was very good no shortage of choice.

Staff on reception I found a little cold but housekeeping, bar and waiting staff very good.

Hotel is expensive but overall a very good stay and would recommend to friends.
