We were checked in to the Hotel by Tara who is as lovely as she looks. She goes the
extra mile for the Customers nothing is too much trouble. James in the Bar is another exceptional young man likewise all the staff in the Dining Room. Dinner was faultless also lovely tasty breakfast.

The rooms are very well appointed. The Bathroom has a walk in shower. I hate climbing into a
bath for a Shower. The Tea Tray is on the Counter ( no rooting around in presses )

The combination of excellent staff and food makes this a winning hotel. Athlone I discovered is
also a great shopping town. We will be back!

Only stayed the one night but it was lovely, not in town centre but not too far out off the town either. Staff are very friendly, rooms are lovely and breakfast was delicious. Got a good rate for the one night, would definitely go back for a longer stay and try the rest of the facilities.

Myself, husband and 2 children(ages 5 and 12) recently spent 3 nights in this hotel. We had booked a family room but when we got to the room, there was only a double bed, a camp bed and a travel cot. We had to contact reception twice to request a second camp bed and to remove the cot. Both camp beds were placed at the end of the double bed which left us no room to actually enter the room. My husband had to dismantle the travel cot as this was also left in the room.
Kids club - my 5 year old daughter complained of constantly waiting for activities to start. When I asked her to explain, she told me that the staff were talking on their phones. When my 12 year old joined her the second night he returned within the hour, there was only a burst football, games with missing pieces and a dvd playing to keep the children entertained.
Bar - we ordered food in the bar - the service was ok but when our food arrived we had to ask for cutlery.
Spa - sauna out of order the first day, the steam room was out of order the second day.
Overall not a pleasant stay. I find it hard to believe that this is a 4 star hotel.....................

Dear Guest,

I am disappointed that your stay with us was less than satisfactory and particularly you comments with regard to our kids club which on the whole was a big success over the summer.

WEE take all comments very seriously and we will be reviewing some of our offerings in light of your comments

The moment we checked into this hotel we were made very welcome.
We had booked and overnight plus evening meal. However we arrived a little late and were not in form for a large meal. We told this to the girl at reception Tara was her name. No problem we can change you booking to a B & B. She told us that the bar was still serving food if we wanted something light. What also impressed me was when I checked in I was addressed by my name. I know a small thing but it made me feel welcome and on a later occasion when I met her she remembered it. Well done Tara.
The room was large clean and one of the most comfortable nights sleep in a hotel.
The hotel was full with a lot of families . So when we went for breakfast we felt we would be in a line for a while. This was not the case every thing was well in hand. The only small gripe was had to wait a little while for the fried eggs and the toaster was very slow and the bread had to be put in twice to get proper toast.
The swimming pool was good as was the Gym.
The only problem was when we wanted to stay another night it was booked out . This I think say a lot about this hotel .

Room Tip: book in advance

Stayed in this hotel over a busy community games weekend in Athlone.
Staff were so helpful and friendly, a credit to the hotel.
Pool and pool area were very nice, well looked after.
The rooms were great, but some extra lighting wouldn't go amiss, particularly for those who like to apply make up.
Food was good too, good selection on bar menu.

Just back from a lovely weekend at the Athlone Springs Hotel. The food was lovely and the staff were fantastic with a special shout-out to Andrew. I have to comment on one thing that I think lets the hotel down and that's the first impression I got when I drove in; the front of the hotel where the chairs and tables are. I found it very grubby, the tables were dirty and the ground was littered. I know it was a busy weekend there but even if the tables and chairs were moved a little further away from the entrance. I'm a smoker and I found there were no ashtrays so everyone was putting their cigarette ends on the ground which really defaced the entrance. I asked for an ashtray I got a glass to use. The table and chairs themselves were in a bad way. This is something that can be addressed very easily and would make a huge difference.
Having said all this, the weekend was lovely and the staff were great.
