This hotel is without doubt the worst run establishment I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. It also operates as a hostel when the mood takes the owners/management (they are one in the same) who are among the most rude, arrogant and ignorant people I have encountered. The musty smell when you enter the reception area is off-putting, the rotting timber on the stairs is frightening and the urine stained carpets disgusting. During our stay, several drunken non-residents randomly roamed around the accommodation side of the hotel, many of whom were looking for a bed for the night having been told by the aforementioned owner that this was acceptable. An extremely dangerous place for anyone to stay. Avoid at all costs.

In a previous review this hotel was described as Faulty Towers but rest assured there is nothing funny about this place. Run as both a hostel and hotel (Kerry Way Hostel). This is the ultimate falling down business, the slates missing from the roof confirms this. The whole building is falling apart from the broken glass in the dining room door to the far more serious open fire exits, allowing access to bedroom corridors to all and sundry. While we stayed there numerous local drunks left themselves in, proceeded to check if bedrooms were open so they could find a bed for the night. The staff on duty at the time didn't seem to find this unusual or particularly of any great harm. More locals who turned to avail of the residents bar (definitely not residents) got highly abusive when asked to leave. This is a dangerous place to stay, the car park was strewn with broken glass in morning. KEEP AWAY

Honestly I thought it was a bad joke when I walked in to reception. This is without doubt the VERY WORST hotel I have ever set foot in. Its like a scene from faulty towers and anyone that has booked, cancel or thinking of booking, forget about it. PT

One of the most scenic locations in Ireland. Rooms tired looking, function room damp, and the exterior looks dreadful. They badly need to invest in it. The people working there were very nice, and it could be a great spot if the hotel matched their enthusiasm. A couple of friends stayed in a place nearby, and I regretted not booking the same place.

Stopped for a quick snack on a beautiful summers day while enjoying the Ring of Kerry.
Decided to eat in the bar, and 3 of us ordered the Fish n Chips and a toasted sandwich.
The girl who took our order was nice and friendly, but that was as good as it got. !
Plenty of chips and some salad, but the portion of fish was miserable.. small, rectangular and
obviously overcooked. The batter was hard and had black bits on it. ! We immediately questioned this and, in fairness were asked if we would like to add another portion. About 10 mins later, it arrived and was even worse than the first.. it was absolutely scorched and jet black.. Uneatable. !!
We couldn't wait to get out of the place.
When we were paying the bill, I took a close look at the food/salad preparation area, it was chaotic, one serving spoon being used for all the salads and dressings. Bare hands sorting salad on plates and a general lack of basic kitchen cleanliness. There seemed to be a total lack of management about the place. The bar area was spacious but was a bit untidy.
Such a pity to find a hotel / restaurant in such poor state in a beautiful place as Waterville,
I will certainly return to the Ring of Kerry and to Waterville, but, I'll skip the Bay View Hotel.

We told that to the waiter and he just said that the fish was fresh!afraid of being sick we told him we didn't want to eat and he didn't care..and he even made us paid all of it!..the bathrooms were disgusting too..we hated it!

The service was poor. Waitress gave us two menus for six of us, and it was tough to get her to come back for our order. The food was okay, but the place itself was old, dirty, and not kept up at all. The value was okay. Nothing was too over-priced. I went towards the lobby of the hotel to use the restroom, and found that to be in poor condition as well.
