“Wedding Reception”
Reviewed 8 August 2012

We had our wedding here on the 30th June 2012 and it was a fabulous location. Karl Hanratty and Geraldine Owens were wonderful to work with, they accomodated us in every way and pulled out all the stops to make our wedding reception wonderful. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The setting is magical overlooking the bay. Our guests thought the hotel was perfect. The meal was super and the atmosphere was..well..words cannot describe, you would have had to have been there ;). We would highly recomment the Eccles Hotel. I could keep going on but really all I can say is the Eccles Hotel along with the management and staff is a fantastic location for your wedding.

Room Tip: Ask for seaview rooms.

We recently stayed for two nights in the The Glengarriff Eccles Hotel and we are already looking forward to the return visit. The hotel itself is a beautiful building and the level of service and warmth from the staff truly represents the "Ireland of the thousand welcomes". The kids loved the hotel and we dined in the restaurant one night and had a fantastic meal. The Wednesday night ceili was also a very enjoyable experience and one that the parents and kids enjoyed watching and partaking it.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view are fantastic,

We stayed for one night in this hotel, as a part of a 2-day tour in Cork-Kerry with "Irlanda en Español", so I don´t know the real price of this 1-night stay.

We were 2 adults and a child and received a triple room (1 double bed+1single bed) overlooking the sea. The windows were huge and the views from the room were amazing and got great light from the outside. The room and the bathroom were very spacious.

This hotel seems to have had "the good old days" in the past, as the style is very classic, but it keeps its charm. The service and attention, both at the reception and the restaurant, were very good.

I'd return in a heartbeat!

Just back after a short two night stay in the Eccles. Friendly and very helpful staff, fine food and comfortable rooms made for a lovely stay. Very relaxing stay especially with the open fires which were much appreciated as the weather was very wet with cold evenings.

Ideal location to stay with a family. Staff were so friendly and facilitative and the accommodation and food were top class. The Eccles is a great example of how to run a family hotel and make all visitors feel at home. Kids loved the charm of the hotel and it's location to see Glengarrif and it's environs is second to none. Highly recommended as a place to stay.

This hotel harks back to older times and so it is a bit tired but not shabbily so. Rooms we had were the same price but one was much bigger than the other with a king sized bed. Staff were laid-back and not that friendly or accommodating. There is no wifi available anywhere in the hotel but there is in the town - just look for signs.

The Eccles is somewhat 'tired' however this is more than made up for by the comfortable rooms and beds, the very well prepared food and the very friendly welcoming staff especially the dining room staff and the chambermaids. Whilst the 'town' is walking distance away, visiting without a car is not reccommended as there are only three buses a day to Cork 60miles away at 8.00,2.00 and 4.00. We travelled by Shearings and if we had not been fit enough to visit the country park at the edge of the town and enjoy a wonderful walk we would have been crawling up the wall for wanting something to do.
