“Lovely Hotel”

This is a wonderful hotel an old style house connected to a new & modern hotel. Very clean & tidy. Staff extremely friendly. Plenty of choice in bar food & at breakfast time also. Have been at the hotel twice on business but would most definitely like to try it as a break away hotel to try the pool & leisure centre.

Stayed here in Feb 2013 with a number of couples and enjoyed every minute. The hotel staff are great, very friendly and helpful. Our room was on 3rd floor very spacious and modern. We had a fabulous meal on the Friday and breakfast served up a great variety, everyone well catered for. Guys golfed whilst girls used pool and went into Dundalk for a fantastic spa. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Spent a weekend here recently and everything was excellent. Staff were absolutely marvelous could not do enough to make your stay comfortable. Facilities in the hotel were excellent, lovely room , delicious food in both the restaurant and bar. Grounds are really lovely, unfortunately did not get opportunity to play golf .

Could not recommend highly enough.

Let's get the bad out of the way. The dinner in the restuarant is to expensive at €42.50. Particularly considering they have no A la Carte (to add insult to injury you can have a main fourse for €30!!). In this day and age that's a) too dar and b) not enough of a choice.

But apart from that everything about this hotel and stay was class. Rooms - big and spacious. Reception wonderful even when handling complaints they were excellent. Bar and staff great. A tip here to balance the dinner menu - order from the room and you can have a great meal from the bar menu but have it delivered to your room. Good food, good value.

Breakfast was very good and they keep the hot plate well topped up. Lots of fruit and chilled liquids available.

The leisure centre has a well equipped gym. There is a jaquzzi, steam room, sauna, external hot tub and a very adequate pool. You can swim lenghts without being interferred with. They also have an 18 hole golf course. We've played it before and it's not too taxing. Just decided this time to give it a miss 2 degrees and rain no thanks!

So all in all a lovely break. The reason for the loss of the star was that the weekend was to have included dinner there was a discount voucher of €20. It's not good enough to try and make up the discount by having an expensive dinner. Will we back? Absolutely and look forward to it.

just spent 2 nights in this hotel couldn't have been more inpreesed.Everthing about the hotle was 10/10,the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was really great. Although there were plenty of other guests staying we were never kept waiting for anything and all requests were dealt with at once. Will stay there again.

Myself and my mother availed of the Pigsback offer this weekend, on a firm recommendation from a colleague and we were not disappointed. The grounds are stunning, offering mountain views and the sweeping lawns of the golf course as you drive up. The rooms are comfortable, clean, warm and ours had a fantastic view of the mountains. What I have to commend EXTREMELY highly, is the service, especially Michael, the night porter, who kindly offered us tea or coffee when we arrived in at 1am- totally above and beyond the call of duty- also ,the lady at reception who I didnt get the name of, but I suspect was a manager , and had no trouble referring us to a good spot for a drink in the town, and even approached us the next morning to see if we had enjoyed ourselves. All of the wait staff we encountered were friendly, diligent and approachable, nothing was too much trouble and they all seemed genuinely pleased to be able to help in any way. Even the receptionist who handled our check out seemed concerned that I hadnt slept very well due to what I suspected was a ghost in my room. In all fairness to her, she didnt even suggest my overactive imagination!!!
The dinner was amazing, well presented, well cooked, and could have fed an army. Prices were high but not unreasonable, you get what you pay for!! Same for the breakfast, which fed us so well, we couldnt eat until dinner time, which is always a bonus to be honest.
Would definitely make a return trip, will be keeping my eyes open for those deals :)

This is a fantastic hotel with old world charm and modern facilities such as superb leisure centre and brilliant grounds including manicured rose garden and golf course. My new favourite hotel! The restaurant is great.
