When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in nicely. The only rooms we could get we're smoking rooms and they smelt bad, the kettle did not work and the plug on the iron we got was broken with exposed wires and very dangerous. The iron only worked and then packed in also after 1 shirt. We were a party of 4 men (who own our own businesses) in our early 30's from Belfast and we were really looking forward to a good night at the races and after drinks in the town Center. After 8 races and no winners we decided to head to one of the pubs to watch the footie as Ireland were playing in the euro play offs. To our amazement we never got into bars because of our accents. We even split into 2 groups of 2 as the taxi driver told us not to go up as a group of 4 and not to speak as they will hear our accents. A bar called Ridleys was a total joke and even after chatting to a member of the door staff and making him aware that a member of the public had told me he was going to attack Him from behind we were still told to go away. So what I mean by useless is: it's only usefull for stag and hen parties and if you do decide to go here then you can't leave the hotel for a drink or good time as you'll not get in anywhere. No wonder a bar a week is closing in the south.

Good location and spotlessly clean room. The staff were very friendly, professional and smart. Breakfast was excellent with great coffee. The hotel represents excellent value for money and I would recommend it. BUT - do not get a room on the first floor. Although Dundalk is full of great traditional Irish pubs, there is a huge, nasty, two floor disco bar on the ground floor. This is open until 2:30 at the weekends and the music is LOUD. My room was directly above the bar (Room 3). I lay awake until three, plotting my revenge. I wanted to take van with a huge sound system round to the owner's house and play crappy dance music a full volume until 2:30 in the morning. The lift shaft also connects the bar to the hotel, so the noise is not just coming though the floors. If you are booking, insist on a second of third storey room, well away from the lift shaft. If they offer you a room on the first floor - don't take it. They need to work out if they're running a nightclub with rooms or a hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor at all costs.

The rooms in this hotel are fine and good value at the price, but the hot water was well below par.. We enjoyed a good evening meal with them, the breakfast was decent and the staff were efficient.
But sleeping was not too easy as we could hear noise from the punters in the pub below and even when they moved to the street into the early hours of the morning. That said it is a very central location so I guess we could not have it both ways.

The hotel was excellent with very helpful and pleasant staff.
The food was lovely, rooms excellent, and spotless we had a lovely stay.
I would stay again, it was very nicely situated in town with plenty of
shops close by, with good weekend entertainment in hotel.

Room Tip: best rooms in top floors, as the hotel is in a busy town and I consider it quieter if that is what you prefer.

Stayed here on business trip. Well located in the centre of town. Entrance is from the side of the hotel . The corridors are a bit uninviting and the room doors from outside look quite institutional. However, the room I had was lovely. Very spacious and nicely decorated in cream and burgundy. Standard of cleanliness faultless. Nice bathroom.
Breakfast was all right. No sign of the awful buffet but the food tasted as if it was prepared. However at less than€50 for b&b I could not complain.
