This hotel is ideally situated for those travelling between southern Ireland and ferry terminals at Belfast and Larne. We found it very easily from the motorway and were made very welcome. Our room rate of 78Euro included a full Irish breakfast, and while the room was dark and at the back, it was comfortable, clean and we had a very peaceful night sleep. The swimming pool and spa looked very welcoming although we did not make use of it on this visit. The bar meal we had was tasty and plentiful. I would highly recommend the Carrickdale for anyone needing a break in their journey, either for a meal or an overnight stay.

Once again my husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights getaway - roughly twelve months had passed since our last visit. We were not disappointed - from the moment of our call to book a room, arrival at the reception area, rooms leisure centre facilities and dining room - staff was just amazing. The staff we encountered were pleasant, neatly presented and at all times willing to help if there was a query. We stayed the August Bank Holiday weekend and the Hotel was extremely busy - a wedding, hen night, a couple of 60th birthday parties and a few other groups yet the staff were so accommodating at all times.
As I mentioned in my past review - we are seasoned travellers and find this hotel tops any other hotel we have stayed in - including the Park Plaza Hotel on the South Bank of the River Thames.
Reading some of the reviews I wonder if we are speaking about the same hotel - could it be that there is an attitude problem????? we find that it is often how we treat staff that they respond to you - after all they are human and have feelings also.
We are already looking into our return visit in the near future.

Stayed here on Friday July 31st the hotel is very nice with everything you could want the rooms are a very good size if somewhat basic. It is an older hotel so the rooms are a bit old fashioned.we got the room for €78 euro with brekfast included so there was nothing wrong with that.the hotel restruants is also very good and portions are on the large size.

The hotel is very well signposted so is very easy to find and also very near dundalk. They also have a very nice spa did not try it this time but have before

I stayed at the Carrickdale with a group of my gal pals for a weekend, just for something different to do. It was well worth it as we, a bunch of high maintenance girlies found they met all our needs, especially when u go away and forget something like scissors to cut those fake eyelashes!!
The room was absolutely fab couldn't have asked for nicer with such comfortable beds. We found the staff so helpful and although the buisness is always hectic they found time to have a bita craic with us and make us feel welcome. The food was absolutely quality........loved the steak and found it hard to fit into that party dress following the feed we got! p.s the deserts are gorgeous!!!
The hotel is very close to Newry so if you want to go shopping (which i recommend in Newry) or paint the town it's sooo handy! Lacey's nightclub also pushed the right buttons, we had a great nights craic with all the different age groups, such a good mixture of people and everyone so friendly!
I didn't get a chance to use the spa much but certainly can't wait to go back again and make the most of it........all this place needs are some more single men!!!!

For those quieter people you can relax and enjoy the views of the mountains as they are lovely.
