“very good hotel”
Reviewed 1 January 2009

stayed at this hotel for a friends wedding at the nearby Ballymascanlon hotel as im a platinum priority club member and decdied to use up some points.
i was highly impressed with the staff, the rooms and the general feel of the hotel.
Breakfast was fantastic with either continental or full Irish and the meal we had as the bar the evening we arrived was very good considering they had numerous large functions going on and were very busy.
In summary i would not hesitate in staying at this hotel in the future either on business or pleasure.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel on the Dundalk Ring Road for two days 27th and 28th December when visiting relations in my home town. Its a new hotel built within the last three years with all mod cons and very comfortable rooms in general so I asked for a room on floor 12 (which gives a sea view and mountain view. ) Everything was fine until the evening when the fact that the restaurant is on the 13th Floor became a big problem. Due to poor sound insulation we had to put-up with being disturbed by the sound of staff working in the kitchen with hard shoes giving out a walking sound. The same applied at 6am until 11am the next day . Also, room furniture and windows were mankey with dust (which you could right your name in. )When we complained we were offered a room move but the attitude of the duty manager was not at all apologetic. "never had this complaint before she said " So we had to come back at 14.00 to change rooms which spoiled our day. The new room on floor 11 was fine but we asked for compensation but the new Duty manager could not even be bother to speak to us ( reception phoned him) so we left rather dissappointed

  • Liked — Brand new with lovely beds and all the mod cons
  • Disliked — poor cleaning standards and mangement not up to scratch

With a building of 13 floors this hotel towers above Dundalk. It also towers above other hotel options because the quality and standard of the product is exceptionally good. For a business trip the strong points included high-speed Internet access, and a really comfortable, well-equipped bedroom, furnished to a high standard. The creative and imaginative touches included a Patrick Kavanagh poem etched in glass on one wall.

The management's thoughtfulness and attention to detail were clearly apparent, and restaurant service was especially memorable - for dinner and breakfast. Staff were welcoming, enthusiastic, and eager to provide a good experience for customers, which they totally achieved. The rate paid (booked online via Priority Club) was very competitive.

  • Liked — Good working environment in the bedroom
  • Disliked — (Room size could have been restrictive with two guests sharing)

Stayed here for one night only. It was a great spot to stop for a night as we were heading up north for a long weekend. Its just off the motorway and easy to find. plenty of parking. we were greeted by very plesent staff who inquired about our journey ect. Our room was on a high floor but cant remember which. The room itself was was fab. Large comfy bed, large room, large tv. Complentry water. as it was late when we arrived we ordered room service and it came fairly quickly. Breakfast was on a top floor also and was fine. All the usual.
Overall super hotel and we got a great rate on the hotels own website.

In keeping with other reviews on this hotel, I concur that it is an excellent hotel!

I only stayed here for 1 night passing through and the location was very easy to find - more or less as soon as you come off the motorway, you can see it from the road. I was driving on my own so was a bit worried that I would get lost as it was dark, but no problems.

The hotel has ample parking in its car park. The staff were polite and friendly. The room was fantastic - spotlessly clean, contemporary design, comfortable. It was luxury, if I am honest! The amenities were great - TV had a good choice of pay-for-view films and cable & music channels. I had room service and the food was lovely. Everything was perfect.

It is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I paid 90 Euro for the night and it was worth every penny. If I ever go back to Dundalk, I would stay here again in an instant.

  • Liked — everything - room, amenities - all perfect
  • Disliked — nothing!
