“Quaint spot.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

Nice spot for a wedding/ function. Cosy little bar . Food and venue decent and staff friendly enough. Function room a bit small. Rooms pretty good. One of better options in clonmel . Reasonably priced. Big garden.

Raheen House was a lovely Inn on a lovely piece of land, and our room was very cute. However, within the first few hours we learned that our doorknobs would fall off almost every time we opened the door, and the water for the shower was scalding hot. My mother, with whom I am traveling, actually got locked in our room at one point on the first day there, and because she was unable to reach reception as she called again and again, actually missed the first half of the wedding ceremony (the whole reason we were in Clonmel to begin with). Aside from those major issues the room had a nice rustic charm and the food at the wedding was excellent! The price however was more than what it was worth and when we reported the major issues to reception the following morning we felt it was not taken as seriously as we expected, and there was no offer of discount.

A charming hotel in a converted period house set amid extensive gardens close to Clonmel. The room was spotlessly clean, pleasantly furnished with an en suite bathroom with step in shower and view over the beautifully kept gardens. The staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating, particularly since there was a party on in the hotel the night that we stayed, yet they still found time to attend to us as customers which we really appreciated. Breakfast was plentiful and the full Irish was excellent. I'd like to be able to give this a five star rating, but our room (33) was let down by the size of the bed, which was very small for two adults, and the fact that the mattress was rock hard which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. I also found the room to be way too hot and we had to open the windows during the night.

Room Tip: If there are tow of you, consider a room with two single beds or request one with a king size bed.

The wife and I stayed here last weekend as we attended a wedding with a number of friends. We found the place quite easily on the outskirts of Clonmel. As you enter the property you are greeted by a magnificent Georgian building partially hidden underneath wall ivy and other beautiful plants and shrubbery. There are very impressive and large gardens on the property also. The sun was shining all weekend which meant we could bring drinks outside which was a bonus. We booked into room 24 which was up one flight of stairs. The room was average size but old fashioned, there was an exceptionally strong smell of cigarettes in the room - there was an ashtray in the room also which indicated to me that it was indeed a smoking room. I opened the window there and then and it remained open for the day and night.

The receptionist and staff were welcoming and friendly to all. The bar is quite small but a good atmosphere was generated when more than a handful of people were in it. The function room again is average size, the wedding we attended have approximately 95 guests and I thought the room was pretty much at its capacity.

The food was truly delicious, could not be faulted. The portions were big in size and served piping hot. I am pleased to report that the staff were excellent at this location and I could not find fault with any of them.

Would recommend you visit this place for a meal or overnight stay, or consider it if booking function for up to 100 people

One negative was the plumbing. Great value, great food. Period house. I would strongly recommend. Staff were very friendly. There is a small bar which would be great for a small function. I should mention that wifi was poor and the tv channels were irish only but that didn't take from my stay here.

I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main part of the hotel

We had our wedding here on the 16th March this year and it was wonderful, from the first day we met Mark I had confidence everything would be perfect, it has such a relaxed atmosphere and you really feel like it's an intimate gathering, the gardens are perfect for pictures and all of our guests really enjoyed the day. The food is supberb and the service excellent, the staff couldn't do enough for you. Later in the residents bar trays of sandwiches were brought out which was really appreciated. If you are looking for a hotel with attention to detail, friendly staff and a perfect atmosphere for your wedding then look no further, couldn't recommend it enough.
