Within 5 minutes of checking in, Jim was teaching me the basics of Hurling as the national championship was being played to a draw (Clare v Cork: 24/24). Breakfasts are a delight (whatever you want, prettymuch), Peggy is charming, Jim (retired nine years from the Irish Police force) is a real character as the other reviews here will confirm. Top notch stay, excellent facility. It is #1 on TA for a reason.

A great place to stay,
with definitely the most welcoming owner I have ever met, and same with his dog.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars (I wish I could give 4.5) is the rooms are quite simple,
although fair for the price.
Place is clean, 5 minutes walk from center. Great place.

We had a very enjoyable stay at PeggyOneill when we visited Cashel two days in May.
Jim,Peggy(and their sweet tempered dog Daisy) are excellent hosts; very kind and helpful. Peggy was lovely, and made us feel very welcome.
Clean rooms, nice beds and bathroom and good breakfast. Our room had a great view to Hore Abbey, a medieval abbey close by. I can recommend a peaceful walk to the abbey(only a short walking distance from the B&B)
We experienced it a moonlit evening which was very memorable. I can highly recommend a visit to Cashel if you like history/archaeological sites (with the spectacular
ancient fortress Rock of Cashel laying on a hill top with great view of Tipperary`s green landscape), and a stay at PeggyOneill!

Peggy O'Neill's B&B is a lovely place. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and tidy. The shower was the best I've seen in Ireland (And I've seen a few). The bed was comfortable (I prefer duvets to the traditional blanket-and-sheets thing, though) and the breakfast was lovely and cooked to perfection. The place is informal and friendly. There is a sitting room for guests and you can sit there or outside in the garden, overlooking a magnificent ruined abbey, drinking tea and relaxing. But waht really makes the difference is the people that run the B&B. Peggy and Jim are lovely people. We felt more like friends than like paying guests. We were greeted by Jim and he was always good for a chat and a laugh. We are planning to return and looking forward to it.

Having never travelled to Ireland, we didn't know much about places to stay, etc. Friends told us B&B's were the way to go, so we turned to Trip Advisor for recommendations. Our first night was spent at Peggy O'Neill's in Cashel. Our hosts, Jim and Peggy, were absolutely charming and welcoming. An unexpected pleasure was meeting their playful boxer, Daisy (we have a boxer at home and were missing her quite a bit). The room was very clean and comfortable. As mentioned by others, the shower was the best we experienced during our Scotland/Ireland trip. Breakfast was delicious and enhanced by Jim's interesting anecdotes.

This B&B is within walking distance to the downtown area as well as the Rock of Cashel. There is a medieval abbey in close proximity to the backyard.

Thank you Trip Advisor for your recommendation! It certainly steered us to the right place. We will definitely be staying with Jim and Peggy on our next visit to Ireland.

We stayed 1 night at Peggy O'Neill's and it was a pleasure to meet Jim and Daisy the dog. Our room was very nice, clean and quiet. The view of Hore Abbey out our back window was amazing. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. This B&B is within walking distance from pubs, restaurants and The Rock of Cashel. Highly recommend!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Peggy O'Neill's is a charming family run bed and breakfast located on the Golden road, three minutes walk from the centre of Cashel. Peggy has been welcoming guests into her home for over a decade and she provides homely yet very comfortable accommodation and huge hearty breakfasts at a very reasonable price. Peggy's is a 3 minute walk from the centre of Cashel Town and a 10 minute walk from the Rock of Cashel.Peggy O'Neill's unique selling point is the wonderful view of Hore abbey from the back of the property. Hore Abbey (also Hoare Abbey, sometimes known as St.Mary's) is a ruined Cistercian monastery near the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland.'Hore' is thought to derive from 'iubhair' – yew tree. The former Benedictine abbey at Hore was given to the Cistercians by Archbishop David MacCearbhaill (in 1270), who later entered the monastery. He endowed the Abbey generously with land, mills and other benefices previously belonging to the town. The story, beloved of tour-guides, that he evicted the Benedictines after a dream that they were about to kill him, is unlikely to be true and probably arises from the Archbishop's 'interference' with the commerce of the city of Cashel. His disfavour of the established orders in Cashel certainly caused local resentment. He was resented by some of the towns-people, being considered too much in favour of the Irish by the more Anglicised. This is evident in the objection by the thirty-eight local brewers to the levy of two flagons out of every brewing and in the murder of two monks who were visiting the town. ... more   less
