“Amazing historic site, excellent scenery, word of warning”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

This is an easy trip from Dublin to Cashel. You should give yourself plenty of time to visit "The Rock of Cashel" without being rushed. When one takes the time to just stand and contemplate the vast history of these sites, it can be well worth it. If one takes the attitude of "if you've seen one ruin you've seen them all", then you miss out. Try to imagine the ruin in it's completed state and be in awe of it's size. Then contemplate the engineering that went into building such architectural sites, remembering how far in the distant past this took place. One word of warning: the chapel area has scaffolding and plastic over it as preservation tasks are being undertaken. This slightly spoils the view... but only for now. It will soon be back to it's "ruin"-ed beauty.

Take the time to walk into Cashel for lunch. It's a lovely town.

“Gorgeous & Prolific Visit”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

The Rock of Cashel was one of my favourite day trips from Dublin. I visited with DayTours.ie tour company and although your time is cut a bit short it is an amazing place to walk around. The view, the history, the old tombstones dating back to the plague, the stone carvings inside, are all spectacular.
We arrived at the perfect time (around 9-10 am) when we were the only ones exploring the ruins.

If you are unfamiliar with the story of The Rock of Cashel there is a video on site that explains it's lengthy history.

"The Rock" is beautiful, historic and has amazing views! We walked around ourselves and explored and then took the path down to Hore Abbey. Both are well worth the visit especially if you are into photography! There is plenty of space to walk around so even with a few tour buses there it wasn't crowded. Definitely a must see!

“Very Interesting”

I loved how authentic this place was - not some done-up tourist trap. Definitely hike up the hill to take in the sweeping views from around the area.

“Historic with breath-taking views”

The age and history reminds me how 'young' the USA is in comparison. The views are breathtaking...you can stand and gaze all day.
