I'm ashamed to say that I am from Cashel and only visited The Cashel Folk Village today for the first time. It is a fantastic place in a little oasis that seems in it's own world. You literally feel like you have stepped back in time and are eavesdropping on how life was hundreds of years ago in a small town in Ireland. I loved the tinkers caravan where 14 children were reared. Bernard is a very knowledgeable guide but it you want to wander around at your own leisure there are loads of information panels. It's a great place for kids to run around in - and they will love all the thatched roofs. You will see everything from ancient standing stones to medical instruments from an old doctors surgery to tiny penal chapels. Definitely worth a return visit!

I personally loved visiting this museum. I have researched the Irish War for Independence and Easter Rising but found this museum to contain many facts that have been left out of the history. There is also a bit about the Famine and the coffins ships as well. I would suggest this to anyone who happens to be in the area.

I liked the history and the way the peole were remembered and revered. It showed us the way things were before and make you realise a lot more.

We were a little sceptical about this 'museum' at first as it looked a little shabby, but don't be put off. There is a wealth of Irish history in there and the guy running it was fascinating. Apparently, his father, grandfather and relatives before that, were guardians of the rock of cashel and his knowledge of the history of the local area was amazing. We are both seniors and the entry price was only €3.50 each!! We were also allowed to take our dog in. Would definitely recommend
