We visited the Rock of Cashel that morning and decided to grab a bite to eat for lunch in the village. The guide at Rock of Casel recommended Fahys so we figured it would be a good stop. When we walked in no one acknowledged us so we walked up to the bar and asked if we could just take a seat anywhere. They said yes and that they would come see us in a little bit. There were no clean tables so we took a seat at a semi dirty one and sat there for 20 minutes, while no one said one word to us before we decided to leave. Needless to say we did not have a good lunch that day.

Ordered a med rare steak and received well done, potatoes and vegetables were cold. Locals were served before we were and trying to get a waitress attention was difficult at best. One waitress was waiting tables and eating her food at the bar.

I love the B&B we stayed at, but the recommendations from them to try this place was definitely a miss in my book.

We stopped in Fahy's Bar and Restaurant while visiting the ancient Rock of Cashel in Ireland. The pub is in the village at the base of the "rock". Much to our surprise, we learned that Fahy's smoked salmon fish chowder was the reigning champion in an annual competition in Cork. We were glad we ordered it! It was piping hot and delicious. Large chunks of salmon ( along with another white fish) floated in a creamy soup base, perfect for a cold day. The chowder is served inindividual iron pots, really cool. It went well with the local brew also. The service was great abd the pub is cozy. You have to stop in!

Welcoming pub. The food was good (typical Irish pub fare) but their local craft stout "White Gypsy" was excellent. I wish there was some way to import it to the United States!

This was recommended by Joan at Joy's Rock House B and B. So glad we went!! We had a lovely meal here; amazing chowder and brown bread and Guinness (of course!)
