“"DEALING WITH CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS"”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

Having both stayed and eaten in the Cashel Palace in the past, what seemed like a good idea to visit past pleasures on a return visit from Dublin, turned out to be a most dissappointing and frankly surprising one. As the hotel was busy with a wedding party and the restaurant was fully booked, we were encouraged to eat in the bar "as it operated an excellent bar menu".

The main course was the problem ! Both of us having chosen the roast beef option, what was served as same was totally inedible. It resembled cardboard in both texture and taste. We could only conclude that it may have been on the lunch menu as well and been under the "keep hot lights" since then. Both our meals were returned and service advised on our comments. Constituting in excess of 70% of the total food bill, a bill adjustment amounting to the soup starter which I had was granted. We paid as decreed without argument and left.

We revisited Cashel Palace to experience the culinary pleasures we had there in the past. The poor quality of the main course which was served to us was along way short of what should be served to paying customers who deserve better but I am sure they know that ! Someone made an assumption that making a discount was all you had to do irrespective of how much they were at fault. They were wrong.

Needless to say Cashel Palace will no longer be included in our future dining options in Cashel !

“Lovely atmosphere”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

This was my 2nd time eating at this establishment. The 1st time a few years ago I ate in the dining room & the fare was only average.

On this occasion & it being very busy the decision was to have food in the bar.

Service was provided by two people, one elderly gentleman & the other a young lad. It being a very busy night the service was excellent & the two jelled to perfection.

The food was a little expensive but my steak, cooked medium rare was exactly as I ordered.

Aswell as the good food, the historic atmosphere & decor is very appealing & certainly well worth a visit.

“Super place to stop for lunch”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

We stopped in Cashel on August 20th, 2013. The restaurants with an appealing menu, good rep, and child-friendly on the high street were full and we happened across the Cashel Palace. Luckily the menu was posted on the gatepost.
So we went in to the Bishop's Buttery in the basement.
Lovely cozy place with a good big of history.
They made a bowl of buttered past (not on the menu) especially for our 5 year old.
the food was great and good value. The seafood chowder was excellent! The right balance of chunkiness, creaminess and body.
But the most outstanding element was the service. You would think the staff had won the lottery they were so upbeat. The warmth was genuine and the fun interaction with our daughter was outstanding. They let her "help" with settling the bill.
Just go there. It will put a smile on your face that will last for days.

“Lovely Irish Soda Bread”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

We visited the Cashel Palace because it is where Guinness was invented and so we descended to the bar to try the brew. We were made very welcome by the staff, who did not mind us wandering around the public rooms, and I would certainly like to go back to stay there in the future.

Whilst in the bar, we spotted a visitor with Soup served with Irish Black Treacle and Walnut Soda Bread. We had enjoyed a huge breakfast earlier, but asked if we could just sample the Soda Bread. The staff provided a generous complimentary taster, and I can tell you categorically, it was the best Soda Bread I have ever tasted! It also goes very well with Guinness.

We were made to feel valued customers even though we were not eating a full meal.
