“Had a wonderful stay here”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

My friend and I recently stayed at Ashmore House, and loved the house, the hosts, and Cashel in general. Brendan was very welcoming and accommodating, and the facilities and rooms were fine (in response to some reviewers' comments - yes, the house is 'old', but that's part of its charm!). I would definitely recommend Ashmore House. And I know a many travelers come to Cashel for a day trip, but I also recommend staying at least one night to see the village itself and the surrounding sights - the visitors' centre itself is worth a stop, and staff there are very helpful.

Stayed here for 4 nights end of July with husband and daughter. This was my second time staying here and I've got to say it's brill!
Wally and Brendan are an absolute delight and very accommodating.
House is clean and very well kept - garden is beautiful.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back and it was perfect

Highly recommendable. The host and hostess ( the owner I guess) are absolutly nice, very solicitous.

Very clean, and tidy, excellent value for money. And the Castle is something Unique.

I will come back if I have the chance.

This B & B is in a fabulous location near the Rock of Cashel. Easy walking around town. Rooms were comfortable, and hosts delightful. Breakfast was a great standard Irish full breakfast. Would certainly stay here again, if back in town.

I booked 5 rooms 6 months in advance, and after driving through Cashel 3 times looking for the B&B was finally able to squeeze thru the gate only to find out they did not have rooms for us, had booked us for the next night. Owner had printed a copy of my email which showed the date I requested but kept telling me "you understand right ?". I most certainly did not

Brendan & Wally, Owner at Ashmore House B&B, responded to this review, 18 July 2013
In response to the review made by CollsMTNesters: This reservation was made through our
website portal on the 3rd March 2013 at 7.54pm for eleven guests/five rooms for the night
of 8th July 2013. (Whilst in the comment box reference was made to the 7th, the booking
enquiry was made for the 8th) Several email correspondences were made further to the
initial booking, the last of which took place on the 6th March 2013 at 0851 from our email
address to Mr L, showing that we held a secured booking for him for July 8th 2013, to which
we received no question or query about. The guests arrived however on the 7th July, as you can imagine this is the height of the summer season and with everyone quite busy, but we did
manage to seek out suitable accommodation to cater for all 5 rooms in one establishment.
Whilst it is unfortunate and regrettable that this party felt let down but I feel the comments are unwarranted. The booking was made and held as required (paperwork on file), our house is
well signposted on both the Main Street and Upper Green areas, and we have two entrances
to our car-park, both sufficient to enter a large vehicle through.

We spent two nights in this beautiful Georgian house that has parking (can be a big deal in Cashel) and is within easy walking distance of all the sights. Brendan & Laura were wonderful, providing lots of info on local sights and recommendations on dining. The public area is large and very comfortable with a computer for guests to use. One of his suggestions was to go to Fethard, which is an easy drive less than an hour away. Go to McCarthy's Pub (still much as it has been since 1800's) there for a good meal and lots of local lore; just ask Brendan who to talk with for that. The village has a significant portion of the old wall remaining and two Sheela na Gigs.

We were nearing the end of a 10 day driving trip and the first night of lodging that was not planned. We stopped in the city center and I started knocking on B&B doors. Laura greeted me and showed me the 2 rooms available. We had 2 great rooms and a wonderful breakfast and walked to the Castle the next morning. We enjoyed talking with Brendan about his travel experiences and learning more about the historic house and surrounding area. Brendan cooked and served the breakfast himself that morning and did a wonderful job!
