“Personalized tour of Glendalough and Powerscourt”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2011

We (2 couples) hired MT to give us a tour of Powerscourt, Glendalough, and surrounding areas. It was a bit more expensive than taking the bus tour, but we really enjoyed the friendly driver and opportunity to have some flexibility on stops. I would recommend them for anyone wanting a personalized tour of that region.

“Private Tour - par excellence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2011

We hired a driver from M.T. Cabs - for a day trip to Powerscourt and Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains. Four of us were travelling together and we checked out various day tours but no one was particularly excited about any of the options. We prefer to have more flexibility and decided on a private tour. M.T. Cabs proved to be an excellent choice and we enjoyed our day immensely. Our driver, Keith McLaughlin was an affable and informative guide. He picked us up at our hotel, chatted a bit about what we wanted to, and off we went. Although there were only four of us, the company had sent a van which meant a very comfortable trip with good visibility for all. This was Keith’s turf and he was full of information, charm and wit. He quickly picked up on our interests and made brief, impromptu side trips to show us sites of interest. He took us past some homes of Ireland’s rich and famous, we drove through his home town and waved at his dad who was passing by and spent several hours exploring the Glendalough Monastic site until even the history buff in our group was ready for lunch. We saw the beautiful gardens of Powerscourt in the pouring rain which somehow made it even more beautiful. We went as far as the town of Shillelagh, purchased a hand crafted walking stick and got a great history lesson from the stick maker, Liam Kealy, on their origin and use as weapons. It is amazing how much the Irish people know about their country and their history. We didn’t expect a guided tour but that is exactly what we got. Keith, in addition to being an excellent driver, was a wealth of historical information, current affairs, local colour and knew all the best pubs. He really made the day special and it was over all too soon.
