“Directions to Bono's house? Yes, please!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

Not only did we have a fantastic room with a balcony and a view of the water, but the friendly staff helped us to get around (to Dublin and beyond) and even told us where Bono's house was so we could do a nerdy drive by, hoping to sneak a peak. Even though it was the last place we stayed after 8 days in Ireland, it was so lovely that it helped soften the blow of goodbye. Comfy beds, great breakfast in bed (or balcony) and Guinness wherever you'd like on the property. Highly recommend this spot! Only 25 minutes from Dublin and yet a world away...

Dear Kristaaah,

Thank you very much for your lovely review on Tripadvisor.

It was great to read how much you both enjoyed the hotel and surrounding area. Its a shame you did not get to bump into Bono but you never know on your next visit- you might?
Believe it or not he does pop into the hotel from time to time and is always a pleasure.

We hope to welcome you back again soon.

Yours sincerely,

Nicky

We stayed 3 nights with our 3 children. Couldn't fault the hotel or staff. We loved the Dungeon Bar. The food was fantastic and the kids had a great time playing Jenga and Scrabble! They loved the bartender, Nick. We were able to sit on the lawn in the evening and watch the children play. We are going back next month!!

This fabulous hotel feels like it is a million miles from the hustle and bustle of life, but it has on its door step some of the nicest places for a relaxing walk up Killiney Hill, which has the most stunning views you will ever see in your life of Killiney Bay, and just a stroll away is the charming Village of Dalkey with its old world feeling it is an enchanting place. But if you never even move from this beautiful Hotel you still have everything you could possibly want, with Leisure facilities a fantastic bar and The Dungeon Restaurant which is very popular with the locals, and that is always a great indication of how good the food is, and it sure is....

All in all this Hotel offers everything you could possibly want for a business or leisure trip you will not find better, it is close to The Dart Station which takes you into the middle of the city in just a few minutes..... Do yourself a favour and try this Hotel....

if your going on dun loaghaire or dublin port ferry, this hotel is very near both.
i booked it for above reason and wanted it as a start to our holiday so researched tripadvisor.
really enjoyed the park beside hotel , we were lucky , weather was sunny, enjoyed the walk to tower ,nice cafe on walkway up to tower ,great views there also.. lovely little village with dart ,about 5 mins drive away,we met up with friends there who got the dart in to meet us,ate in the club dalkey bar.
we got family room at a good price ,room only.room was huge, best we have ever had,2 king size beds .and plenty of room to move about in.bathroom could do with new shower curtain but okay for one night.
when you arrive ,hotel looks like a 5 star hotel, but closer inspection its not.
check in at reception ,only member of staff we met that wasnt over friendly, she .wasnt rude but wasnt welcomiing .before i seen the room i was thinking i made a mistake booking here.a lot of older american visitors in lobby on way to lifts.no young families staying while we were there,
but glad i booked when i seen the room.
we went to the pool ,and this is badly in need of a revamp.its in a time warp.1980s ,lockers while quaint ,very old fashioned, showers were dirty, long black hair on floor, loads water, glad we had flop flops..tiles in pool very slippey ,pool didnt look very clean.
its overlooked by seats in hotel lmaybe hotel ,should put up blinds here, not everyone wants to be overlooked, also windows over look smoking seats outside as well,on lower level.not a very private swim.
staff in bar area and at swim area all friendly, and rec check out was friendly.
didnt eat here as we ate with friends in dalkey.
room was good value, for a family room.would stay here again.

stayed here for 3 nights 9th july from the first minute we arrived we felt the warm welcome honestly i dont think i ever have had as good service anywhere the food was excellant in the dungeon restaurant and breakfast was very good we stayed in the castle wing room 107 on arrival to our room there was bottled water crisps and 2 small botteles of red wine bath robes and slippers the bathroom was immaculate with double sinks room was nicely decorated the only small drawback was that the windows needed a bit of attention but this did not in any way put us off asked the friendly barman for some ice and he said it would be his pleasure to deliver it to our room even when we were out sitting on the lawn bar staff often came out to ask if we wanted any drinks delivered will be back at this hotel for sure

This was our first visit to Ireland and we stayed here because it was advertized as a castle and was rated four stars. We were looking forward to an Irish castle experience. But the hotel rooms are an addition to the castle and the hotel part was like any other hotel and could have been located anywhere. Our room was relatively small, the furniture was old and worn, and there was mold in the bathroom. The one person at the front desk was filling the reception and concierage roles, so took us one hour to get checked in and I had to bring our luggage to our room (after over 15 minutes I went down to check and the front desk had forgotten it was there). Two good things at this hotel were the swimming pool and breakfast. I will not stay here again and wouldn't recommend it to others.

I had been to the hotel before 10 or so years ago for a birthday party for the young lady I was a nanny. Going back brought back many memories. I love Dublin, more specifically Dun Loaghaire and saying at the hotel was perfect spot to see the sights. It's a 10 minute hike to the Dart station, but you get over the walking portion real quick in Ireland. It's Europe people, don't wine about the fresh air and exercise. The hotel seemed dated from the outside, but the beds were comfy and the breakfast was hot. I have nothing but positive memories of our stay.

Room Tip: 3rd floor, 2 beds was nice
