“dirty and cold hotel”
Reviewed 19 January 2014

We arrived at lunch time on Saturday 18th January as we were attending a dinner in the neighbourhood that night. Our room was at the top of the house. The radiators of which there were three were totally inadequate. One was lukewarm and the others cold. Twice we rang reception but the phone was not working so I had to go downstairs. I was told someone would come up but no one did. Mould in the bathroom by the toilet and shower, lukewarm water and no heat from the radiator in the morning. You could not stand up straight under the shower but as you would have been touching the mouldy wall we did not use it. The breakfast was pleasant and we got a small deduction off our bill, but we would have preferred a cosy room to come back to after our evening out

Room Tip: Check that the heating is working and that the room is clean.

THIS HOTEL IS STILL A GEM... We held our wedding reception here back in September 1983 and have really fond memories of that day. As has been said in many of the reviews this hotel is charming, traditional, homely, very welcoming and the setting is stunningly beautiful. The mature gardens are as breathtaking as ever and the birdcage for photos is still there!!! It seemed natural then for us to return here to celebrate our 30th anniversary with our children and family members. We booked a meal in the restaurant and were treated to a most wonderful evening by all the staff. The food was superb, the service attentive but discreet and we had our own private dinning area kindly and very personally decorated for us by the staff. I think the charm of this hotel is that they didn't go with the awful huge expansions of the celtic tiger years preferring instead to modestly improve different areas whilst still retaining good quality reasonaly priced food and outstanding personalised service. We hope to return here for many more celebrations in the comming years.

I love this little gem of a hotel. Business brings me to Cork on a regular basis and when possible I try to stay here. The rooms are individual, but very comfortable. Each room in the main house has an identity all of it's own. It is an old house with the quirkiness of an old house but that only adds to it's charm. The food is good and they are very good at tailoring it a bit to your likes. The staff are friendly and happy to accommodate your needs. At this stage I have stayed in most of the rooms and they are of a good standard. If you are looking for something a little different outside Cork, then this is for you and it is surprisingly good value.

Room Tip: If you want a good view then ask for a room at the front of the house. The rooms to the back are fi...

The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the hotel is definitely in need of some maintenance in places, the windows especially have seen better days :-) But despite this, I don't believe that there is a hotel anywhere in a more beautiful setting. We saw a family of swans and even otters in the river which runs alongside, it was picture perfect. As for the staff, they were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, nothing was a problem. We went for a midweek break which included dinner and I think it was a bargain.

Room Tip: I haven't seen all the rooms but room 1 has a four poster and lovely antique furniture and views...

We got married here on 17/05/2013, both the wedding ceremony and evening banquet. Margaret, the propriotor, and Shane, the manager, as well as all the other staff, were professional and a pleasure to deal with. Everything on the day went smoothly with plenty of attentive staff. All our guests raved about the quality of the meal. The hotel is a Gem; traditional, old, even a little quirky by modern standards, but beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The mature gardens and setting are stunning. When you leave the main road and drive down the avenue it's like going back in time. We highly recommend it!!

Had Lunch there recently ,an old period house set in its own grounds ,far from the main road.
Both my lady companion and i had steak, something i seldom try ,mouth watering ,beautifully done veg crisp and tasty ,also mash and a roast potato.
Its family run and it shows.very well run ,good value for quality food and service ,reluctant to leave such a great setting ,looking forward to my next visit.

We had our wedding at Innishannon house hotel and we cannot praise them highly enough. The service was excellent - Margaret and Shane are a pleasure to deal with. They were well organised but not in-your-face. They discreetly kept an eye on things to ensure a smooth service. The food was absolutely delicious - go for a menu tasting and you won't be disappointed. The setting was amazing too. We had a fabulously sunny hot day and our guests could take their drinks outside. They could also go outside to cool off during the night.

We did have to organise chair covers separately but these were set up the night before and removed the day after. We didn't have to do anything!

The hotel is recently done up so it doesn't look shabby or run down at all. We had many guests from outside Cork who were blown away by the place. If you're looking for a country house (which you will have to yourselves & guests) with charm and a beautiful setting, then take a look at Innishannon!
