We stayed at Rathmullan for 4 nights. One of the best places we have stayed in - lovely room, innovative menus part of which changed daily, very friendly staff with time to chat when not at their busiest! Would recommend this as a romantic break or a relaxing holiday with friends every time!

Stayed one night but wish it could have been more. Premium room had direct access to the garden terrace, room was large and comfortable witih a beach ambience. Dinner was perfect as was breakfast.
Fantastic to be able to walk 100 yards on to the mile long sandy and cockle shell beach. Highly recommended.

Visited Rathmullan for a wedding and stayed one night. Old style rooms added to the atmosphere and the whole property oozes class. Staff amazingly friendly, efficient and helpful even when dealing with a demanding wedding party. All meals were excellent and the hake main course superb. Lovely grounds, walled garden and sandy beach just a few steps away from the main house. Will definitely be back. Thanks again to Mark, Mary and the staff for a memorable stay.

Attended a wedding reception at Rathmullan House and stayed in the hotel overnight. It is not an exaggeration to say that the food at the reception was outstanding - a very rare thing for a large group dinner. The accommodation was also excellent, a top quality Irish country house hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff were also excellent. I would very highly recommend this hotel - I wish I could have stayed longer. Many congratulations to the management.

This country house hotel is located on a large, beautifully landscaped property with direct access to a sandy beach. Although the decor is a little frayed, it is still very chic. We had a beautiful room with French doors that led to a semi-private patio. The breakfast was excellent. The common lounges have comfortable furnishings and log fires. Dinner was outstanding and reasonably priced for the quality. Our favorite accommodation in our trip to Ireland. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

We have just enjoyed a superb weekend in Rathmullan House to celebrate our son's 40th birthday. The house is charming with a delightfully relaxed old world atmosphere - turf and log fires in every function room. We had three rooms on the ground floor each leading to the terrace where we enjoyed some bubbly in the warm evening sunshine on arrival. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Dinner was outstanding and the selection at breakfast quite wonderful. The gardens are a delight, full of birdsong and bunny rabbits! 'The Walks' into the village are not to be missed, nor is the pristine beach at the bottom of the garden. A wonderful place to relax.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Rathmullan for three nights midweek as a short domestic getaway! We booked a three night deal with a superior room which worked out cheaper than their average nightly rate. The house and its surrounds are beautiful, an old house with a new extension, pristine lawns and a lovely kitchen garden.
The style is in keeping with the old house and is decorated very tastefully with antique furniture and neutral, unfussy colors and patterns. This is not a place for brash and unnecessary ornaments or blousy curtains! Our room had french doors on one side and a beautiful view over the side of the house and we could see the sea in the distance. There were all the usual bits and bobs in the room and some special features like a seating area, fireplace etc. The bathroom was MASSIVE with a lovely freestanding bath and a separate huge shower. There were freshly baked cookies in a jar by the kettle and some nice big mugs for tea/coffee.
The service is great and the staff are warm, friendly and conscientious. One was very anxious to make sure our coffee was made correctly because she was a self proclaimed 'tea drinker!' When i left my watch behind they wrapped it up securely and posted it back to me in Dublin in a matter of days. They manage to not be fussy or stiff though in their service which is great!!
The restaurant is a real selling point of the place (thankfully because food options nearby are pretty much zilch, in May midweek anyway, with most places a 20 min drive away). The menu changes daily with a good variety of fish and meat dishes, yummy vegetables from the garden and nice wines. It's pricey enough (from memory starters around 10e and mains 25-30) and extra sides are needed to supplement. I wouldn't say its overpriced for what is on offer though as its fresh seasonal food at its best really.
Breakfast consists of a big buffet of stewed fruits, yoghurts, cereals, flapjacks, honey roast ham and cheeses and a selection of breads and cakes. The ham is to die for! Then theres a menu where you can order a cooked option. The full Irish wasn't great, sort of the standard one with thick slices of bacon and a tomato thats more warm than grilled or cooked but full irish breakfasts are rarely great anywhere you go! The American pancakes were delicious and fluffy and a big serving!
There are lots of nice rooms and corners to sit and relax in and read a book for a few hours and they have newspapers and board games if you're so inclined. The temperature around the hotel was a little warm for our liking but no one else seemed to be sweating!
We didn't use the Spa or pool so can't comment on them!
All in all this place is a gem. If you're looking for a lovely getaway in Donegal I would recommend is SO HIGHLY. We stayed there as a base while we visited spots around Donegal and this went well, there are a lot of places within a 30-40 minute drive including Glenveagh National Park, Mount Errigal, Letterkenny, Dunfanaghy etc.
