Stayed in Rathmullan house hotel recently, I was there for four days and every day was a pleasure, very relaxing hotel, good spacious rooms, good linen, nice in house pizza parlour, my only gripe is that I thought the food in the Resturant was slightly over priced, Would go there again.

Great evening with friends sampling the Kinnegar beers and wonderful pizza. A must stop if you are staying at the hotel or in the Rathmullan area on holiday. Be sure to arrive in early evening so you can watch the sunset.....

I seem to come here every year now, on the annual pilgrimage "home" from Oz to Ireland.

Every time, the cellar bar seems to have changed. In its current incarnation it's the outlet for "Kinnegar farmhouse beers" and wood-fired pizzas.

Nice pizzas, slightly limited choice. Ice creams for desert.

The beers are probably better suited to a connoiseur review rather than me - the glass (that's a half pint to you non-Irish) of Scraggy Bay I drank slowly is so hoppy it had me thinking of non-PC Monty Pyrthon sketches, or Skippy playing Austalian Roulette with my bullbar. Probably a bit overpowering for drinking with food. "Follow the hops" is Kinnegar's slogan, but really, not much can follow the hops of the Scraggy Bay.

Lovely atmosphere as always - sitting by the turf fire. Whatever they've done to the bar it seems much more spacious than last time I was here.

If you like real beers, you'll probably love trying each of the half-dozen or so brews. The pizzas are standard wood-fired fare, and that's a compliment. Thin crust, and just right. I didn't sample the ice creams, but the folks I was with polished theirs off without complaint.

Lovely service - is there a word for a beer waiter, equivalent to sommelier? Because this bar/pizzeria has one (or it did on Saturday 12th July)!

And finally, "the check". Surprisingly small. Pizzas are currently E10 (or less for the basic), beer is E3.50 for a glass, E6 for a pint.

Went for a wedding recently and stayed 2 nights.
On arrival, staff couldn't have been more helpful. Excellent level of attentiveness, but not to overbearing.
Food in the cellar bar on the Friday night was great, and the staff looked out, to make sure all got what was required, and nothing seemed to be a hassle for them.
The room itself was great and opened out onto a quiet area to the side of the house on the ground floor.

On Saturday morning a walk along the beach was very relaxing after a near perfect breakfast. Cooking my own toast is a pain I find, but a minor matter !!
One slight issue was a lack of hot water when getting ready for the wedding, reception kind of brushed over it when I called them, but I suspect I was last to have a shower that day in the hotel!! A cold shower was had.

Otherwise again the reception was very well done by the hotel. Dinner was excellent and delivered with real professional hospitality skills. The whole reception was excellent and hotel and staff were really great. Even check out was done well with lots checking out at same time.
Well done Rathmullan house! I'll be back and absolutely would recommend!!! Great place and excellent staff! Thanks!!!

Just returned from a 4 night stay with my aunts, cousins and little boy.
From check in I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Child even had a little robe in wardrobe for the pool.
irish made beautiful soaps, shower gel, shampoo, bath salts - such nice touch
buckets, spades, wellies etc available if needed even spare swim items!
All the staff are so friendly and nice, special thanks to Eimhear and Mary at breakfast.
Quaint different decor which I loved. Milk and water bottles in ice great idea!

I really cant fault this hotel, food is priced for quality. Alot is sourced in gardens and locally which I dont mind paying for. If its not suited to your budget, take a stroll into village plenty of options.

steps away from the beach,
I say well done Rathmullan house, keep the uniqueness it wont be everyones cup of tea but we loooved it!

Visited again, excellent staff, room fine. Breakfast great too, it will keep you going for the day. I only wish the chef [s?] realise that just because you source excellent produce, you cant pop a premium price on it!
A scallop starter, €15, for 3 small nicely cooked scallops, little bit of greenery, overpriced and the fish main course was just as boring. Menu does not change much either, but you can pop down to the village of a bite to eat if you dont like the dinner menu/prices.

Stayed for a wedding recently and loved it. The staff, the old style rooms and the whole layout of the place is excellent. The meal considering it was for 120 guests was outstanding and that view was shared by everyone. Didn't make use of the swimming or tennis but the walled garden, grounds and beach were lovely. Thanks to all at Rathmullen.
