We (my husband and I) stayed at the Nesbitts Arms in April 2012 and would recommend the hotel to others. We didn't have reservations as our self driving tour (which we did without vouchers) was open-ended I had a list of possible places in the Ardara area and when we pulled into town around 5pm after a full day of sights and travel, we decided to try the Nesbitt because of its convenient in- town location. The hotel has on street parking only which was full and we found a spot in the municipal lot nearby. If you have mobility issues that may be a drawback. Liam was at the front desk, and we found quickly that he wears many hats including holding the pub duties. His professionalism, friendliness, recommendations and insight concerning many topics we were interested in discussing were truly a highlight of our trip. He is the real deal and is an asset to the establishment. The room was average in size and the building itself is older so don't expect a moden feel of the cookie cutter newly constructed hotels. However the room was big enough for a couple double beds and a twin, which we didn't need but nice to know if you are traveling with kids it's a good setup. The tv and stand looked dated but really, with the beautiful beach, trails and attractions who would be needing a TV. The bathroom was updated and supplies and towels were neatly arranged and plentiful. The breakfast included in the 79£ rate was wonderful (is any Irish breakfast not?). We spent time wandering around Ardara and visited other restaurants and pubs, but ended our evening at the Nesbitt with Liam and a nice group of gentlemenin the area for an annual golf trip. We both enjoyed their company for an hour or so, and my husband stayed up with the guys into the wee hours. The room was quiet but it was off season and the festival was the weekend prior so things were more low key. We stayed one night but wished we had more time, and when (not if) we return we wil be at the Nesbitt Arms.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor which also has function rooms down the hall, which is an advantage...

I am Origianlly From Donegal and I had a friend visiting from Co.Clare. On our Trip around South West Donegal I thought we would stop in Ardara for food . We Decided to go to the Nesbitt Arms. I always thought Ardara and the Nesbitt Arms was Fantastic. As we entered, The reception Staff were not friendly and Grunted and directed us into the Bar. we Met a really nice Girl who was friendly and gave us Menus, as we ordered our food the atmosphere was not great and there was no music on and it was really cold in the Bar. I felt that our custom was not wanted. I noticed there was a change in staff, the two Bar men that came on duty were so unfriendly and spent the whole time talking about their personnel issues really loadly through the bar and totally forgot about the customers there were other customers in that day and there was nobody there to serve them as the bar was left empty no staff. other wise I thought food was really good and, Hot, but the staff did make the whole experience unenjoyable. I was really disapointed they way we were treated I just hope there would be some training for long term staff to make sure they are there to look after their customers

I recently had occasion to visit Ardara in Co. Donegal. We called into the Nesbitt Arms Hotel in the centre of town and had a truly fabulous night. The staff were courtious, friendly and very attentive. It was 'curry night' and one of the best chicken curries I had in a long time and it was only €10 and the steak looked very inviting also. I will be back and I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

We, two couples, stayed here in late October & just loved it. The Nesbitt Arms was the perfect place to stay. Ideally located in Adara near by to all the wonderful pubs, especially the Corner House, the Arms has not only accommodation but a restaurant which served the most scrumptious of breakfasts each morning as was the steak on the Friday night. Staff were efficient & extremely friendly & helpful. We would reccommend this hotel to anyone fortunate enough to visit this incredibly beautiful part of Ireland.

The Nesbitt Arms not only has a large selection of rooms, the restaurant provides good service as well. The only downside is that there is no parking available and the street fills up fast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not close to the kitchen fans...

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago with my husband and child, and I have to say it was a very pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful to us, a travel cot was provided as requested when we made the booking. We ate in the bar and the food was very nice with a great athmosphere and happenings going on. Ardara is a great town for families and we really enjoyed our time here with its central location it was easy to travel around and see the beauty Co. Donegal has to offer, will definately be back next year.
