“Ok B&B if you want to stay out of town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2013

Shanlin´s house and garden are beutiful (photos are real). Our room was very tidy but we can not deny that the room and bathroom were quite small (almost no storage place) and voices could be easily heart from the other rooms and corridor but what can you expect... The wifi didn´t work very well, neather did the tv. For their advantage we want to say that the English breakfast was tasty. The family it self is nice and gave good adviced but it´s fair to mention that there was nobody home when we arrived (14:10). If you want to stay out of town, near main roads this can be ok value place for you.

I stayed here for 3 nights. Seamus and family are extremely nice and the rate was very reasonable. Everything was spotlessly clean. Bed was comfy. Room was smallish and bathroom very small. Breakfast was hearty - I love the Irish bacon, sausage and black pudding.

I am not sure how this B&B has been rated so highly. There is no denying the owner is super friendly and helpful but that doesn't make it great. This is one of those all too familiar purpose built B&Bs and cheaply built at that. The rooms are small, have only the one chair, the walls are paper thin, the shower is just big enough and there is absolutely nowhere to put anything in the bathroom and little storage space in the bedroom. When your consider the wonderful seaside vistas that so many other B&Bs have in this area I would not stay in this town again. It is a not far from Galway town and it does have a Tesco if that excites you but you can do much better ambience wise on the coast north.

Room Tip: When the Irish tell you "it is five minutes walk" it is about as reliable as "just up...

I was travelling on business and would normally stay in hotels but at this time of year they can be a bit on the pricey side especially in Galway so I decided to seek out a nice B&B for my two nights in Galway. From the moment I called to make my booking I was delighted with the service. They were so nice. The room I had was small but in fairness I spent little time there so it did not matter. The only real nagative was that there was no mirror near the plugs so it was hard to blow dry my hair. Breakfast was fantastic, one of the best. Eggs were just perfect. I will make the Shanlin my regular when in Galway.

Stayed here for 5 nighs for a business trip. While Seamus is a pleasant host the B&B is not bad but nothing to write home about. My room was rather small with a cramped bathroom. Breakfast was OK but nothing unusual. WiFi was rather patchy and you can hear the nearby road quite a bit. Saying that, it was also affordable and Seamus offered me lifts to bus stop several times when it was raining.

we were warmly welcomed by our host Mr Seamus. The room was perfect. It is a small distance from Galway city. Tesco is few mins away and there are lots of restaurants in the vicinity. Our child was fascinated by the mother daughter duo of Sandy and Jess (dogs). Jess even posed with us for photos. We were served mouth watering breakfast by Seamus. He suggested places to visit. The Oranmore park is good for walks and having a small picnic. We did part of the Burren trail and visited the breathtaking Fanore. Would definitely love to stay here again if we go to Galway.

Wonderful, but all-too-brief visit. Both to this very comfortable B&B, and to Ireland in general.

Mr. Grady was the consummate host. Personal service, accommodating and engaging. Great "local knowledge" tips for touring the area. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality. I promised to bring my wife with me, and stay here on our next trip to the Emerald Isle.
