“Rest and relaxation”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Our room was a classic room ( Gleninagh) Unlike the description on the hotel website we did not have either spectacular views or a view of the garden. The view was of trees and the rooftops of the laundry and some other low rise buildings below. The room was clean and plainly furnished with a large comfortable bed( two beds pushed together),a dressing table and a small settee. The bathroom was off the bedroom and contained a very large bath with a shower over the bath and big fluffy towels. There was a curtained off wardrobe and storage area at the entrance to the room.
The bar area and sitting room were very restful with log fires, comfortable armchairs and settees and many interesting books and magazines for guests to read .This is definitely a place to wind down and relax. Breakfast was quite good with the usual choice of cold items from the buffet or hot meals made to order and the dining room has lovely views of the garden from the tables near the windows.Everyone including the hotel cat was very pleasant and friendly and made us feel welcome and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Perhaps check with the hotel before booking to ensure you get a room with a view it does make a diff...

Rarely does one visit a Hotel when one is made to feel so special, privileged and so welcome. The location is exceptional. The bedrooms and the common rooms are exquisite with everything being to a very high standard. The food was simply sensational. The attitude to customer service should be the Benchmark for others to seek to achieve. A great place to rest, recover and reflect.

Room Tip: You must try the Tasting Menu on at least one of the evenings. Many many interesting places to visit...

We came to this hotel on Discovery Bike Tour. Not knowing anything about the Hotel other than and exterior photo. In brief we were blown away. Owner: Very Nice and calm. Interior: all sorts of nooks and crannies for privacy to read, reflect, have a cup of coffee. The decorating everywhere is done with very fine touch and a great eye. Also, another reviewer mentioned beautifully maintained historic inn is hard to find, I can't speak for that but it is perfectly maintained and appointed. Staff: very friendly and let you have your privacy. Meals: 5 Star dining. The chef is amazing from the presentation to every mouthwatering bite delicious and creative. Room had wonderful natural and big windows with a view of the pasture (I bet every room has a view). We had an excellent night sleep, the bed and sheets were beautiful. We spent two nights there and dinners, We highly recommend, its worth

Room Tip: We stayed above the dining room from the back of the hotel, the architecture suggested to be in the...

We had a wonderful time at Gregan's Castle!

The property is absolutely gorgeous, it lives up to every ounce of expectation set by their website. Sweeping views of the Burren landscape, and rooms appointed in superb conservative high end elegance. Someone decorating these spaces had a very fine touch and a great eye for timelessness.

I secretly planned to propose to my fiancee on the coast road while staying at Gregans Castle. The manager was extremely warm and personal, and helped me quietly pack a half bottle of champagne with glasses for the trip. On returning he gave us a huge congratulations and a champagne toast at dinner.

We could not have looked for more, what a beautiful property with the most warm staff. Dinner was fabulous, however we will leave that for the restaurants page on TripAdvisor (however I will say be sure to book at the restaurant for dinner for a world class meal you would expect in New York or London).

Thank you for such a wonderful stay

This beautifully maintained historic inn is hard to find these days. The spacious rooms were tastefully done. The other areas-sitting rooms, breakfast room, bar-were equally inviting. The staff was very gracious. This is a gem that we will revisit when we are next in the Galway area.

We were travelling in Co Clare on holiday today and stopped by for a nice afternoon tea and secretly were investigating a function to hold a private party later in the year. My wife suggested this as she heard the service can be very questionable. We own a nice restaurant in Leinster which recently won a series of awards for fine foods and standards so we kinda had a really keen interest in all we were about to learn from this so called fine hotel. We walked in and were "bluntly" greeted in the bar area by two staff who resembled two Alsatian dogs and all we were asked on this beautiful sunny afternoon was "were we residents"? . We said "no that we were just looking for afternoon tea and cake". The hotel was very quiet and more or less empty with the exception of about 8 people at 4 tables eating and chatting. We were horrified to hear that "they would need to consult with the chef if they could serve us". To our horror we were soon told that the chef declined to "ok" our cake request with the teas for us ( even though the cakes were on the bar counter ). It is so sad for what seemed like a nice building that we were turned away like two refugees begging. The over all atmosphere was awful. This treatment ruined our Sunday afternoon.
