Owner description: A one acre, award winning plantsman's garden situated in the beautiful Caher Valley in the heart of the Burren. The garden was begun in 1999 and has been specifically designed to 'blend' into, and incorporate it's surrounding landscape. Many 'native' plants are used, along with an extensive collection of garden plants. There are several noteable collections including Brunnera, Galanthus, Ferns, Hostas, Primula,Arisaema, and crocosmia. The garden includes a section of the Caher river, ponds and water features. There are interesting design elements, and a wealth of creative stonework including a 'Moon Window' built from local stone. It has been featured in many magazines, newspapers and is included in the book "The top 100 Gardens of Ireland" The garden is open from March to November, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please ring for details. All visits are by guided tour. Photography is allowed. Unfortunately the garden is NOT suitable for children under 16 years.

You wouldn't expect such a 'landscaped' garden in the middle of the Burren but Carl has with his 'bare hands' transformed the bare rock into a very interesting visit. Worth a visit but call him for visiting hours as he is not open alle the time

Stunning garden, so inspiring. Karl is friendly, hugely knowledgable and enthusiastic. I took a group of adults and teens and We all loved visiting his garden, it is a peaceful, magical and inspiring place. I took some beautiful photos and we all had a wonderful afternoon. I think if you are in the Burren and love beautiful gardens this is a must see!

Thanks very much for the great response to your visit. I remember your little group well, and thoroughly enjoyed showing you around. Sometimes it's difficult to keep everyone engaged in a group with such a wide age range, so it's good to hear you all enjoyed it. :-) ..... even the teenagers! ... Hope it might inspire a future interest in gardening for them, and hope you will all return again one day.
Many thanks. Carl.

Our first stop - landed in Dublin and drove to Fanore. Private tour from Carl who, although suffering from a bad back, guided us through his creation. He has placed every plant, every stone and has created a uniquely beautiful garden in a harsh and unforgiving (for gardening!) landscape. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

A warm welcome from the owner, who showed us round with great enthusiasm. His passion for the garden was very obvious, explaining the reasons behind the planting and structures. Definitely recommended for a visit!
