“Best B&B of our trip!”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We stayed at Cappabhaile house for one night recently, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The room was the largest we had stayed in in Ireland, with comfortable sofas for sprawling in as well as a large bay window for staring at the pastoral scenery. The location of the house was very quiet and peaceful overall. There was a wide range of breakfast selections to choose from. The Irish breakfast and smoked salmon choices were both excellent. The breakfast staff, though clearly busy, was friendly and helpful.

At Cappabhaile house we experienced genuine Irish hospitality. The owner (Conor) went above and beyond being a B&B host and re-affirmed our choice to stay at a B&B. Conor was a wealth of information and gave us a detailed map and recommended Burren itinerary based on our interests. The sights he recommended (which we would never have thought to go on our own) turned out to be the highlight of our Ireland driving tour. Ditto for a wonderful local restaurant which was a short drive away in a neighbouring town. The inn is clearly lovingly kept, with many beautiful tall plants inside the establishment. Even though we only stayed one night, this would have been an excellent base to explore the Burren and Clare county. We would definitely return if ever back in the area.

Conor and Margaret are simply amazing hosts ,so very welcoming .We extended our stay by an extra night to be able to experience all the Burren has to offer ,especially Conor's list of sights that you wont find on the average tourist map!
fantastic large rooms with beds that are way too comfortable and huge breakfasts that set you up for a full day of exploring :-)
If you are going to the Burren and surrounds Cappabhaile house is the only place to stay :-)

I stayed here with my family last week. It was the highlight of our stay! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is beautifully presented and delicious. Conor is incredibly helpful, setting up a special tour of the Aran Islands. We only stayed for two days, but I would have happily stayed much longer.

I stayed here with a friend of mine for two nights. The room is huge, comfy beds and very clean. The breakfast was of a very high standard, such have taken a photo but couldn't wait to dig in. The location was fabulous, in the heart of everything we wanted to do in County Clare. Just a small drive to the Aillwee Cave, the Burren on the doorstep and close to the picturesque village of Ballyvaughan. Conor (the owner) is so helpful and a pleasure to chat to with a great knowledge of the Burren. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

If you are traveling through the Burren, this is THE place to stay. It was the nicest room our family of four had in our two week tour of Ireland. You might consider using it as a base for many of areas of interest around Co. Clare and even Galway. Huge, comfortable rooms, an amazing breakfast and hosts that seem to enjoy communicating with you. We were given several spot on recommendations and we're plied with an armful of books about the the Burren. Our only regret was that we stayed only one night. On a sidenote, if you have never driven in Ireland before, the roads in Co. Clare we find to be incredibly narrow even by Irish standards....I am still trying to unclench my jaw.

Our stay at the Cappabhaile House was too short. I made the mistake of only booking one night in the Burren and should have allowed for more time to sight see in the area. Conor was very helpful informing me of areas to visit the afternoon we arrived. He encouraged me to drive to Black Head and then down the Atlantic coast southward. The views and overlooks were amazing! The house is situated amongst the limestone hills, provided an amazing view all around you! The rooms were very large and well kept, the breakfasts were great with many choices. Having a pool table to play in the evenings was nice as well. The one thing that stood out on our visit was that Conor really knows his history of the area and his home country, and is willing to share. He also helped my mother and I with web links to research our family's origins in Ireland, that was very kind and showed he is a very generous host. I would recommend if you are planning on visiting the Burren, Aran Islands, and the Cliffs of Moher, make your stay at Cappabhaile House. You won't regret it.

It's hard to find anything to complain about with this delightful B&B just south of Ballyvaughan. As you step through the front doors you're in what amounts to a full rural hotel lobby, exuding a sense of pure comfort. Our room (party of five) was very affordable, almost as roomy as suite, and in perfect repair, with shiny new-looking bathroom tiles and a soft carpet in the room. The view of the mountain from the porch is beautiful. Breakfast is to order, with an order of cereals and one hot breakfast dish including Full Irish, omelets, egg dishes. Portions are lavish and nicely prepared. The porridge is creamy and delicious. Service is friendly. Would love to return.
