The castle is set on top of a mountain in rugged landscape, on the shore of a lake in a scenic valley ( Similar to Glendalough ). Great story and well told by the guides, nice place for lunch. Not to be missed

Glenveagh Castle is a lovely day trip and good value for what you get, €6 inc. the shuttle bus to the castle- although you can walk which did look lovely in the good weather but we had our 5 month old so we decided to bus it! The driver was very nice a d friendly helping with her buggy.. The castle tour is extra at €10 for a family ticket and its a guided tour- very interesting although I'd like it to be longer! The gardens are beautiful and the walks around are so peaceful and scenic.. Really worth it.. However, one small issue is that the visitor centre bathroom and shop facilities are a bit shoddy.

Bus leave from the castle at 10am on weekends and takes you up to the glen... From here you walk down the bridal path it's amazing if you love walking & scenery and if your lucky you might even see a deer or two !
Past the waterfall and into the tea room for some late breakfast / early lunch ... Good selection of food and so fresh.
From here you can get a ticket for the bus out to the visitors center or walk a little extra through the lovely gardens and walkway

We recently visited Glenveagh National Park and Castle. We were really impressed with this attraction. The location is stunning
with the castle nestled between the mountains and lough. We took the castle tour, which was really impressive. The tour guide was well informed and really brought the past to light.

The scenery was breathtaking. From the carpark, you can either take the shuttle bus to the Castle or walk the 4k, if the weather is good take the walk, you wont regret it. The shuttle bus runs parallel with the walking path so if you do get tired you could always wave the bus down. The shuttle bus was only €1.50 each way. Go to the tea shop at the Castle. The Castle grounds have great gardens if you like plants and a lovely Greenhouse. No cost to park your car or to view the gardens. A great day out.
