“Ghosts in the attics?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2013

A very nice hotel, the formal staircase is lovely. The restaurant was closed on the Monday night, despite the brochure stating otherwise. The bar/resraurant "McGettigans" was open and is very attractively decorated, but has only one vegetarian option and it isn't strictly vegetarian anyway, although the staff were extremely helpful and arranged for it to be adjusted to suit me. HOWEVER, it was the strange sounds above our room that had me somewhat freaked out. Someone was rolling what sounded like a bowling ball in the attics. Reception said they would send a porter to the room to investigate but unfortunately it stopped literally just before he arrived.

Room Tip: Maybe not 211.

Stayed in room/ apartment 213. Well all I can say is my understanding of an apartment is different to yours. It was a large room with two large double beds, an ensuite and a small room with a kitchen which was basic but adequate. Obviously there must have been a leak in the roof previously but in all fairness nobody in their right mind, never mind those in the hospitality sector would leave the ceiling in that condition and then have the brass neck to pass the room fit for occupancy.
The front automatic door also seem to need attention as it only opened half way perhaps this was too stop guesses from leaving !.
However on a positive note the hotel pub was quiet nice and lively and the breakfast was quiet good also.

Room Tip: keep out of room/apartment213

Dear Isobelfionn,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us at The Clanree Hotel for your recent two night stay and for taking time to provide us with your detailed feedback, which I have shared with the entire team.

It's disappointing to hear of the various issues you encountered during your stay - especially regarding your check-in with the team at reception, we have policies and procedures in place which the team must follow if a valid credit/debit card is not available to swipe , apologies for any stress this may have caused you and your family and we were disappointed to learn that the service int the restaurant was not to our usual high standard as we pride ourselves in providing all guests with a friendly and accommodating service,
These issues do not reflect our usual high standards and I would like to offer your family my sincere apologies for the disappointment and inconvenience you experienced. Please be assured that I will be following up each and every issue you have mentioned with senior management - your much appreciated feedback will be used to help improve our future service standards.
I do hope we are given the opportunity to serve you again in the near future where we can assure you of our best attention at all times, please do not hesitate to contact us if we can assist. at reservations@clanreehotel,com
Sincere Regards,

We stayed for 2 nights in October at this hotel. The room was big and spacious, not much of an outlook as we were at back of hotel but not unduly worried as we were only sleeping there. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was big and spacious. Tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer in the room were appreciated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities were great and particularly liked the pool/spa. The restaurant food was lovely and service was excellent. We used this as a base for touring around and would definitely recommend this hotel.

My Husband and i have stayed iin the Clanree Hotel 2 -3 times a year and last weekend (15-11-2013) was no different, we had a wonderful time, The room was spotlessly clean and very spacious, the food was excellent, and the buffet breakfast is one of the best we have had anywhere. We had a very relaxing weekend making full use of the Spa facilities, Cant wait to return and find the new bar McGettigan's opened. All in all 10/10 we would highly recommend this hotel.
