This was our second time to stay in Castlegrove and it honestly felt like we were returning home. Once you open the front door it feels like you are entering a home and not a hotel. Staff are all very friendly, attentive yet discreat and they are all locals which makes all the difference.
Our dining experience was excellent. You are invited to relax in the drawing room by the fire to look through the menu and enjoy a drink before you are brought to your table. It's a rare find but these simple touches add to the whole experience.
Our meal lived up to the "michelin recommend" standard. We had Hake and Fillet steak and they were both cooked to perfection.
Our room was superb and we felt like lord and lady for the night.
We highly recommend Castlegrove if you want peace, relaxation and extremely high standards all round.

We've just had our wedding at Castle Grove Country House last weekend and it was absolutley tremendous. The service from all staff was second to none and the food/drink and atmosphere was more than we could ever have expected. It made planning our wedding so much less stressful knowing we were in safe hands, and with so many guests travelling from around the World, this was so important to us. THANK YOU for your amazing attention to detail and genuine interest and support. Wishing you continued success.

Attention to detail and totally customer focused , this birthday party was off to a good start ! The menu on the table was a dillemma , what to have ? It was absolutely delicious , truly 5 star and catering for 70ppl was a breeze for the well trained competent staff.
The lady of the house did the rounds of the tables asking with genuine care if you enjoyed your meal. I would most definetly reccommend this hotel to anyone.

From the minute you step through the door to the day you leave, Irene and her family make you feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble, particularly when it comes to recommendations for interesting local attractions. The hotel is clearly 'full of character' but of even greater importance, the chef is first class. No hesitation in pointing you in their direction.

We stayed here on Saturday the 20th July and it was superb. We booked online on our wau through town after reading the great reviews and were not disappointed at all. The staff were really helpful and friendly and did everything possible to make our stay as good as possible. Our room was huge and very well decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant and I have to say it was exceptional. We had 5 courses and finished with coffee in the drawing room. They have a very good wine selection and they are happy to help make a good selection to compliment your meal.
Overall the Service, location, food and value for money was the best we experienced in 9 days of travelling around Ireland. Love this place, will definitely come back and would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic break & fantastic food. First class all round!

Room Tip: There are no lifts as you would expect in an old house like this so request a ground floor if you st...

I recently celebrated a milestone birthday with family and friends at the wonderful Castlegrove country house hotel, near Letterkenny. Choosing the venue for this occasion , was extremely easy. This hotel is without doubt one of the finest in the North west of Ireland. An old country house steeped in history, set in a stunning location, and magnificant grounds which overlook Lough Swilly. On the long impressive drive down to the house from the main road, you are immediately eclipsed by the feeling that your visit here is going to be special and unique. We have been to Castlegrove many times in the past and true to form, on this special occasion we were not disppointed. Some of our guests had travelled from abroad, and the rest from various parts of Ireland, each and every one were overwhelmed by the Castlegrove experience. The hotel is run by the delightful, charming Mary Sweeney and her two lovely daughters,Karoline and Irene. They have a very professional, pleasant and courteous waiting staff who are in a league of their own. Eileen and her team, make every effort to ensure that your dining experience is a special one. The cuisine has to be among the finest in Donegal, fresh locally sourced produce and vegetables and fruit from their walled garden are prepared by the excellent chefs for the dinner menu. On the evening in question Mary Sweeney went around all the tables and greeted each of our guests, to enquire if they enjoyed their meal, the attention to detail is second to none. The following morning we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast served by the very pleasant, and friendly waitress Mary. If you are in Donegal, Castlegrove is a must to visit, for a dining experience, and stay. You will remember it for a long time.
