I received a promotional email from The Silver Tassy and although friends had stayed there several times, we had not. On arrival we were allocated a large cosy room. The receptionist was really nice and helpful. We went to dinner in the hotel and were delighted at the choice of where to eat, either formal dining or bar relaxed dining. We opted for relaxed. The variety of food was wonderful, something for everyone. In the reception area, they have leather sofas and candle lighting to support the relaxed ambience. With a spa in the hotel, DVD hire, books available, it's a wonderful spot. We were close to letterkenny and costal drives of Donegal. We stayed two nights and will definitely be back and recommend this spot to friends. All staff couldn't do enough for us and other guests. My only recommendation for the hotel in the future would be to invest in King beds, the doubles were really comfy however.

I stayed for one night for work and enjoyed the stay so much I asked to be booked in the next night as I was still in the area. The hotel is well decorated and laid out with very welcoming staff. The rooms are comfortable with good amenities including wifi throughout. It is also quiet considering it is close to the road.
The hotel is a few miles outside letterkenny however there is a bar and restaurant. I had food in the bar both nights and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

We chose this hotel because of a special offer of 2 nights B & B for 2 people for 99 euro. We were given a warm welcome and were amazed by the size of our room! There were 3 beds: a double and two singles and acres of space. The bathroom offered a bath with a shower-over; the latter was excellent - hot and strong! The breakfast menu was very full and our poached eggs were perfect. We dined in the restaurant each evening and were very pleased with the standard of service and the quality of the meals. The table layout was very good and it was nice to have proper table napkins. The entrance area of the hotel has a lovely wooden roof ('barn-like') and it was a real pleasure to sit out in that area, especially enjoying a Irish Coffee after dinner. The hotel is very well situated for enjoyment of the Atlantic Coast of Donegal and we would specially recommend a visit to the nearby Glenveagh National Park and Castle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room which isn't illuminated overnight by security/floodlighting.

We were visiting the Silver Tassie for a family wedding. Staff at the reception were very helpful and polite.
After checking in we were amazed at the size and spaciousness of the rooms. Massive bathroom with a bath/shower and lots of towels. Rooms were fully kitted out with everything you could possible need, ironing board and iron in room, tea facilities and couches with a small table as well as a small dining table and chairs and usual flat screen tv with dvd player. As well as extra bedding in the wardrobe.
For the actual meal at the wedding reception, all I can say if wow!!! I dont think I have ever been at a hotel where the staff have been so attentive and helpful. Food was brilliant, very hot and more available if you required it. Which we didnt as there was more than enough on the plate!!!!
Come evening for the dance, and the room was sorted very quickly, with no disruption at all. Bar staff were very quick to serve and a good selection of drinks available, and very reasonably priced.
For breakfast there was a very good choice of cereals, fruit, porridge scones and pastries to cater for everyone. As well as hot breakfasts, and nothing was too much trouble, whether it was requests for extra toast and tea, or being able to sit with the people we travelled with.
Really cant fault anything with this hotel, staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble.
If I didnt have to travel from Scotland to visit, I would be a far more regular visitor! So thanks again to all the staff that are there.

We went down on a Friday and check in wasnt until 4pm. We had booked 4 double rooms for 8 adults in total. We asked if we could have all bedrooms near eachother because it was for my mum's and my sisters birthdays that weekend and it was the night after my wedding so we were celebrating. However, they only let 3 rooms be beside eachother and the 1 double room was at the other side of the hotel.
the room value was €120 bed & breakfast, From the pictures on the hotels website and saying it was a 4* hotel we were very excited to book this hotel for it looked gorgeous however, when we got into the bedrooms, the rooms were small, and one of the double rooms was a family room with a double bed and a single. Not impressed considering the price of the rooms as they could do with a re-vamp in decorating. very disappointed as we thought it was going to be luxurious bedrooms. Wouldnt stay here again for that price again as I've been in nicer hotels at that price. The food in the bar was great, staff were friendly and the food came out very quick and all 8 of us loved our meals but just the bedrooms disappointed us all. i wouldnt rate this hotel a 4* due to the decor of the halls and bedrooms.

We chose the Silver Tassie from the range offered by the Irish supermarket chain ‘Supervalu’. As such our stay, which included 100 euros worth of spa treatments/products represented very good value. Overall, we were pleased with the choice.

Possibly the best part of our two-night stay was my wife’s session at the Seascape Spa. Caroline, the masseuse, was excellent with the treatments well on par with those experienced, often at much greater cost, in more exotic locations. If staying at the Silver Tassie or simply in the area we would suggest checking out the Spa.

As to the hotel itself, we found staff friendly and check-in and check-out were simple and straightforward. Decor and furnishings are, however, rather tired and some of the lounge area armchairs are noticeably past their best. While our room was comfortable enough it too was rather dated. We had a double room at the rear of the hotel which was quiet and away from the traffic on the main road which passes the front of the hotel.

The food erred on the side of generosity of portion size than imaginative cooking but, overall was good. Cooked breakfasts were large and, commendably, cooked to order. The steak I had on our first night was cooked as requested, tender and accompanied by a tasty sauce. However, the crispy half duck on the second night wasn’t really crispy. Vegetarian options are limited but there are three main course options and those tasted were fine. The champ - a favourite when in Ireland - was very good though my saute potatoes to accompany the duck seemed deep fried rather than sauteed and there was a detectable, if not overpowering, smell of frying in parts of the corridors leading to the bedrooms. Wines are averagely priced and there is a fair range from which to choose. It was a pity that the pre-dinner dry sherry - some points for having it - wasn’t chilled.

Good points are the ample parking, the on-site spa and fitness centres and the free wi-fi in rooms and public areas. The hotel is about 10 kilometres outside Letterkenny but close to the small historic town of Ramelton which is well worth a visit and which has a few shops, including a chemists, for any forgotten essentials. It also has the cosy, thatched, Conway’s Bar - perfect for a Guinness. The Silver Tassie is well placed for touring in this part of Donegal or visiting some of the interesting golf courses.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter away from main road.
